Venom do you think your car is a half second faster than mine?

Venom 12.6@114
Juicee 13.3@106

same engine ? could this be? What the difference guys why is Venoms car so much faster, guess mine es brokee. Anyone want to explain why I will never get a 12.6 in my car and why Venom will likely always be .7 seconds faster and trap 8 mph higher? I thought we both owned 63's?
Well (1) your running at what possibly could/is the worst track in the country? (2) I'm sure there will be a sea level track opening in San Diego verry soon, I read about this in the news paper.

No you read me wrong, wasn't trying to goose you to a race at all, just couldn't read slips is all? then your retort says "I will be 14 sec at lacr" I then asked you to race, Once again we have no tracks close to me? 7 hrs total drive time sux in my book unless it was to meet the model it my signature

Yo! pm waiting all in good fun..

Track conditions while they do suck are not accounted for in the correction factor. Only Altitude and Weather! The track is at elevation , that is the only reason our times are slower. I did post my ACTUAL times? I did what you asked and posted the slips rather than the times then the correction. This is a 63 times thread and since there are a handful of runs we all benefit from each and everytime someone runs and posts times and conditions and any other information critical to the physics of drag racing. LACR is home to some of the WORLDS fastes Corvettes 10.71/4 mile, guy does corrections all the time, and so do his peers. They do it to calculate dial times, and groupings. Using your logic The LACR based Z06 would be matched up with the Florida based Camaros(Z28), seem fair?

I am getting really sick of the sea level folks throwing out the correction times like they are somehow FICTICIOUS! Read the thread man there are East Coast 63's running 12.5 12.6

Where do you get 12.89? His time has to be corrected for elevation bro!! His DA was 3077. Run you car at 3000 feet prior to throwing out our corrections.
First, sorry for the triple post

I wasn't trying to start any beef with you. All I have is respect for AMG cars.

I was just asking for the fastest actual time ever recorded in an E63? I saw you guys ranked one CLS63 as #1 and his time was 12.87. I was asking if this is the fastest actual time recorded in America. Thats all. I didn't know if people were running their CLS63s at Englishtown (which is obviously a MUCH better track). I just want to see the timeslip of the actual #1 fastest/quickest CLS63. Thats all, its just a simple request!

The E55 guys seem to have no problem with this, a couple of them showed their high 11 time slips without much fuss. And before you say anything, yes, they were East Coast and yes, I know that if you ran your car over here it would be much faster.

Sorry man, I am just tired of explaining why I do the corrections.

The guys with the fastest times XABO and 05Venom I will request the post slips in this thread. This thread is going to be a great resource as we get more 63's running. Everyone who gets a good time should attach an actual slip. Also the 63's with the fastest times UNCORRECTED are all E63's not the CLS. Bluemax, XABO and 05VENOM all are in the E63 while TREZ, JUICEE and SAMSSONZ in the CLS63.

I only have my slips which are run at 2700 feet. I will be going to FOMOSO Friday 650 ft above!!! I hope I can get into 12.7 range (ACTUAL) and trap triple actual. Sorry if I jumped down your post.

Thanks,

A racer myself, I understand the qualms about claiming a corrected time as actual.

On the other hand, I have no problem bandying about SAE corrected dyno numbers as if they were Gospel.

When used as a comparative tool to assist with parity between cars found all over these great United States, I think your corrected times can be of great use and interest.

A couple of suggestions if I may:

1) Always, always print both times to avoid confusion.

2) List the source of/link to the correction factors to allow the reader to perform their own calcs, if desired.

Please keep up the great work and your unbridled enthusiasm.

As an aside, I don't see the 63 cars turning quite the times that the 55 cars can until the 60' can be conquered. Your magic 12.2 is in dire need of a 1.7/1.8 60'.

Very well written! Points taken and noted and you are sooooooo on the money about the 60 ft times. I am going to a track a mere 650 ft above on Friday Night!!, I actually am hoping to break 12.7@111! This could be my very first sub 13 runs and the correction factor at Fomoso is minimal unlike the tracks at true ALTITUDE recognized by the NHRA.

Thanks Chicago,

Well thanks guys for getting me addicted to drag racing !! My new BFG drag radials are already being replaced. Had a flat at the track and the tires are gone after 40 runs. Just ordered pilot sport cups , 700.00. Still cannot find an 18" rim to fit over my 030 brakes. Wednesday I plan on smashing the record in the 63. I just purchased a floor jack and will be putting on the PSCups at the track. They seem to be better because they are not as "sticky " as the BFG tire. If you nee traction and have super HP , the BFG cannot be beaten. For the 63 I feel the cup is a faster tire. So I have spent over 2k in rims and tires in 1 month OMG.. Hopefully they last more than a week this time.

Anybody else been to a TRACK in MAY!!!! Comon guys get out and run your cars.

On Sunday I ran with the pros and participated in some gambler runs. Saw a guy do a 8.18 @160 that was interesting. I asked the announcer was that good he said "nah" guy usuall runs mid 5 at 220.

Anyway hope some people post slips in this thread and on drag times. On Sunday I ran my 5th best time but figured it was not worth mentioning. It was over 90 and thank goodness the flat happened on the way out of the race way.

YES. I only have a 1.92 and I only did it once. THE drag radials do not spin at all but launching the 63 has proven a mystery. I ran some good times in the BFG's but my best was still with the pilot cup. The drag radials gave me a constant 13.34-13.5 @101-107. Range corrected so you can see would be 12.48-12.62 . The 60 ft times at LACR are always poor everyone I talk to says it is the worst track in the USA. That aside it still feels like I could launch better. Running at Irwindale all my 60ft times were 2.00. I tried a 2200 rpm power brake, I tried a 1500rpm. Do you even need to power brake? Evos do 1.8 at LACR and very few cars ever get below 1.8. The pro series guys with the HUGE drs are getting 1.5-1.6. I guess I need to know how you 55 guys and 600 guys launch. I wonder if the gearing of the 7g prevents the torque from being present at the green. I know you likely already addressed this in our PM's but do you think power braking is essential. I am getting traction. Remember to the DA at this track is usually around 5000. so a 2.03=1.92, and a 1.92 would be =to a 1.82 at sea level. The car seems to move down the track better on the less soft tire.

how other cars run are irrelevant, what other cars do at other tracks is irrelevant, experimenting with your own and getting the most out of it will will your best bet and u seem to be on the right track. There might be some issues with the converter at launch, but the only way you find out is to play with it and fins the right combo. Now i have been pondering taking my buddies out for myself, but do you really want me to do that...you may be chasing my times for a while j/k

I'm no expert at racing at the drag strip or on the 63 series (actually, far from it)...but the 55's and 600's have torque that peaks at low RPMs (in the 2000's). So, by power braking they launch the cars at peak torque and the DRs make the cars hook up so they can get great 60' times. Now, if I remember correctly the 63's have torque that peaks somewhere in the 5000RPM range. I think that this might be the reason you can't get those sick 1.8 and under 60' times. But then again, your track sucks so you might suprise us all when you get to a good one.

Can't wait to hear the results. Good luck.
