Have you been to LACR recently? Last time that I was there (well over a year ago) the track prep sucked.

LACR Track Conditions

If everybody seem to agree that LACR is crapy track, why don't you guys go to a decent track?

I don't go to a lot a tracks. What is your suggestion on a "decent" 1/4 mile track in the Los Angeles area that you can get a good number of runs in?

Nothing as close as LACR. Plus because the track sucks you get more runs and just imagine, when you do get on a "good track". Best track is in San Francisco! and Sacramento. Most the tracks here are 1/8 mile. Nothing on the weekends! The birth place of drag racing and we have really minimal choices.

PLUS everyone is on the same track so it does not diminish the fun. I do tthink the inside lane is better SHHH! The track equalizes the cars and makes it a real drivers challenge to deal with traction! Plus Sam ran a 12.59 which is the fastest CLS time in the USA!!!! Uncorrected it was 12.9 but we get a nice correction factor that equalizes the track to other tracks that have OPTIMAL conditions. If we are running 12.6 here it is likely we would run 12.6 @ Englishtown or MIR or Moroso! So you get a huge data base to compare your time. Tell me another track in the USA you can manage 40 plus runs in 4 hours?

Like I said, I have not been to LACR in a while (would usually go for the Wednesday nights "run what ya brung" events) . . . I had heard that it was closing, changing hands, or something . . . thought maybe that the track prep had improved if it was still open.

I've never tried an 1/8 mile. It just doesn't seem right.

We got some decent runs. I have never been to a "good" track" Come on out Wednesday man, we will have a blast and they did use VHT and there were efforts to keep the track sticky. Weather was really bad and wind was 60 mph. 1/8 mile is ok, a good place to just get your 60 ft times down and see if you can trap above 85. Good time to practice launch etc.. You will have a good time if you decide to come out. Have you ever lined up against a 63?

Sorry, but what is VHT?

60 mph wind? You should have a lot of wind tonight, too.

It is still a bit of a drive for me coming from Long Beach (add to it afternoon traffic in Southern California). I won't be able to make it anyway because I will be traveling to the Midwest.

I have never run against a 63, but would love it. I did run against a M5 in early April (first time that I came across one that wanted to play). We were lined up at a light and we both hit it. Because of our posturing at the light, I had assumed that he had pressed all of his super-duper buttons and levers necessary to be at 100 percent power. We got up to about 60 before he shut down. I jumped out ahead pretty easily, but he hung in there. He turned off quickly, so I didn't get to speak with him.

Anyway, have fun tomorrow, and be safe.

Sorry, but if you don't know what VHT is, you probably are not qualified to comment as to whether the "track prep sucked," either. The problem with LACR is the altitude. Other than that, it is somewhere between the old Carlsbad and Pomona tracks in terms of quality.

Well bitc* slap me . . . and . . . go fu*k yourself.

I am qualified to opine as to whether a track is sticky on a particular day as opposed to other experiences that I have had.

I had an inclination that VHT is a material used in preparing a track. However, having never prepared a track myself, I was not familiar with the term. I apologize to you, being the brain-trust that you apparently are, for not knowing precisely what VHT is:

"The compound originated as a high temperature coating made for NASA by the Sperex Corporation; VHT is a brand owned by Sperex. It was taken up by drag racers, and Sperex soon began producing formulations specially made for the sport. Sperex was purchased in 1989 by P. J. Harvey (a businessman, not Polly Jean Harvey the singer) and is now part of PJH Brands."

Thanks man , I will be at the drags all summer long so hopefully we can meet up at one event or another!

A good track is famoso,.. Its over 100 miles away from LA but you wont be stuck in traffic since youll be on the road at around 6 am and on a dead freeway in general on a saturday as oppose the congested 5 and 14 frwy at rush hour on a wed or fri to get to lacr. So puttin all those together itll probably take you around the same time to get to famoso as it would to lacr. One bad thing is that you wont get as many runs at famoso as you would at lacr, about 5 runs as opposed to about 15

Famoso Raceway Track in Bakersfield

+1 for famoso... I live near there....

Let me know if you guys are coming, I'd like to come and film the event...

By the way, famoso is a VERY busy track, so if you can't make it by 6:00 or 7:00 pm then most likely you won't be able to get more than 1 or 2 runs.

I know a lot of guys that have trailered cars to Famoso from Las Vegas. They say the track is pretty fast. Is that the case? I know it's got to be faster than Vegas.

We were actually going to have a little get together at our track tonight, however, one of the cars coming down had some technical issues on the way and had to turn back so we called it off. We were going to shoot video. Too bad. I won't mention any names but he really wanted to see what his car would do. We'll probably have to wait till fall now due to temperature. I did a DA calculation for tonight and it was about 5700'

There is a big German event at LACR on May 13th Sunday. Its called German Invasion and the track is rented out privately from an Audi shop. Only German cars are allowed.

LACR is one of the worst tracks in the US. Its usually very hot, windy, sandy (dust storms on track), high altitude, no traction etc...

What have you guys ran at LACR?

My Supercharged M3 ran 11.9@123 there on a bad day.
