In 2007 an E63 was MSRP -$7k
The 63 should have been more than an equal, I think we all expected too much, time will tell. The E 55K is a cult thing.

I think one of the reasons big engined gas guzzling everyday cars ie; the E63 may not be selling so well now vs. 2003 is the price of gas...how much was a gallon of premium in late 03 maybe $1.75 or just about half of what it is today? I would have to say however those buying $90k+ automobiles would not be so concerned about the price of gas but most of my friends are b*tchining about the price of fuel and they are all quite comfortable to say the least...

E63 Weight ???
On Mercedes website, the curb weight of the E63 is stated as 4035 lbs.
On AMG website, the "Unloaded Weight" is stated as 1840 kg, which is about 4056.5 lbs.
Both are less than the E55's 4087 lbs, but which one is correct?

Like I said before I weigh her after every run (Now how accurate is the scale at E-town I don't know). Has any body else weighed their 63??...55?? Put myself in the car at 250lb and my 63 is now hauling close to 4,600 down the quarter.

There is a trucking company with a public scale right next to my office. I'd be happy to meet anyone with an E63 and get it straight. Plus, mine has the Reus audio system in it.
Keep in mind that Mb tried the same marketing with the CLS. Those that bought into it claimed left and right about how much stiffer and more agile they were. Now that everyone has driven them, the truth is out and MB's website is corrected. Last thing about claims vs reality: The E55 only puts out 469hp to the crank, while the E63 puts out 507hp. Should be a no brainer, right?

I would also like another 63 owner to weigh their car. As far as my car nothing to get straight. I weighed her several times at different stations and havegotten the same result.4,300+...so there is no debating at least with my car.

E63 Curb Weight ???
How do the manufactures determine the weight? I was under the impression all fluids(tranny, ps, washer, oil, coolant, spare tire etc) are added and car is weighed with a full tank of gas. If this is the case. my car weighs roughly 4,300 ..no wheres near the claimed 4,050 or so lbs.
Like I said before I weigh her after every run (Now how accurate is the scale at E-town I don't know). Has any body else weighed their 63??...55?? Put myself in the car at 250lb and my 63 is now hauling close to 4,600 down the quarter.

- Standard features (Optional features weight extra, for example: heated/ventilated seats, pano roof, etc...)
- 150 pounds driver
- 90% Full Tank of Gas
- 15 pounds of luggage.

I have to say all this crap is sort of funny...I owned a 2005 E55 and now I own a 2007 E63...the only differences that I've noticed was the gas mileage and the sound of the exhaust...let it be known that I only drive my car about 2 to 3 times a month though.
#62
This is just my opinion but it seems a lot worse...I usually use my car to travel to and from Jersey...The amount of gas that I have used in the past seems to be a lot less than it takes now with the E63...I could be wrong though.

Well,I've owned a Flint Gray E55 and absolutely loved it,best car I ever had bar none.Wish I never sold it.But it had to go&it went......
So now I have an E63 because I refuse to buy another CPO Banz cuz I got burned with the CLS55 we just bought. And since there are no more brand new E55's to be had I reluctantly bought a Flint Gray E63.It's an incredible car,I can feel the improvements in braking&handling&the sound from the exhaust is music to my ears.It doesnt have the "slam your skull into the headrest" low-midrange thrust like the s/c 55&I really miss that.I've yet to run it hard thru the gears as it only has 500miles on it so far.
I'm really hoping it's a screamer above 4k rpm's like I'm thinking an all aluminum big block 32 valve head engine should be...
I ran a best time of 12.40@116mph w my E55(stock tires SUCK) and I can promise that as soon as I put some more miles on it's heading to the track to see whats up
Either way,there both great cars

Hey Bob!
Man the 55vs. 63 stuff here is intense.
Look the E55 may be a bit faster in a straight line but the 63 is a better handling car, it also has some nice updates/changes that the 55 does not have.
The majority of AMG E cars sold are not modified so the ease of moding may not be that important to the majority of owners out there especialy if part of the warranty will be compromised.
I had a late production 06 E55 and liked it alot but the new 63's are pretty darn sweet and when given a choice between NA and forced induction engines if the hp/trq difference is not that great I'd go NA anyday.
I am still concerned though that the MB 7 speed is still having dificulties as reported here while the 55's 5 speed seems to be bullet proof.
If I were given the choice right now of a brand new 06 E55 or brand new 07 E63 for the same money or lease payment, I think I'd have to go for the 63.

It seems to me that most E55 owners dont want to give the E63 any respect at all and always go on about how their 55 will " Smoke " the 63 anyday. I'm no specialist but why would Mercedes make a slower car for the newer version ? that makes no sense at all. Every thing that I have read points to the E63 being the better over all car - updated exterior,interior,brakes,handling,0-60. Seems to me that some of the 55 owners are living in denial.

and since i work in a business industry i know for a fact that marketing can paint many pictures and hide my facts from untrained eyes!!
The 55 produces the same power on the dyno if not more then most 63 have dynoed so far, from what i have seen. From low speeds if the 55 has good tires and gets traction i think it will edge out a 63, top end i am not sure about as i have not tested it.
Plan and simple from the 55 guys point of view, the 63 does not offer any major changes that put the 55 to shame, or show it to be a much better car.
I really love the look of the updated look on the E63 (front change/head lights), but those can be added to a 55 if one pleases
end of the day, go with what you like and feel comfortable with

The power difference is not a huge difference where one car will destroy the other. So I'd rather have the newer updated version, I love the new rims of the 63 a lot better than those of the 55 also. Both are excellent machines.
Thanks for your response.
