W211 E55 vs W211 E63
W211 E55 vs W211 E63
A friend told me last night over dinner that the E55 is a way better vehicle than the E63. I was totally unaware of the specifics so I wanted to see if anyone on this board can shed some light on this issue.
Thanks

Your worst nightmare...
I think I will take a stab at it.
just simply one word....MODIFICATIONS...these engines were built to be modified and abused. Anyone else disagrees throw the first rock... (and I don't mean you Rock,
) We have a low compression ration compared to the High compression of the E63 or M5..this is a hands down ...E55 winner.

Opinions are like a-holes everybody has one. I love my E63 and could of bought a new E63 or used E55. I choose the E63 and don't regret my decision.
Remember the E63 is the new model. Alot of members of this board are E55 owners and a small percent are E63 owners.

I like the E55 but the E63 is simply georgeous whether it's faster than the E55 stck or not. Plus it is said that it handles better. If the E63 had a low compression engine with F/I the W211 E55 would be forgotten like the W210 E55.
Watch out if they do in fact come out with aTwin Turbo F/I version.

Some Differences Between E55 and E63
They are both great cars, I like the looks of both E55 and E63, and I also like the drivability of both. I like the low end torque of the E55, and the linear power of the E63. I like the feeling of the supercharger engaging/disengaging as well as the high revving E63 engine. I lean slightly towards the E63 because it is a newer car and newer technology, but I truly like both cars.
Here are some differences:
Here are some differences:
- Stock vs Stock, the E55 is 0.2 faster than E63 in 1/4 mile drag race (this was admitted by AMG directly at the AMG-Fest 06, the video is posted on youTube and here somewhere).
- From a roll, both cars are equal until maybe 140, then E63 will probably start pulling slowly.
- E63 has better HANDLING and better BRAKES.
- E63 has slightly more updated interior
- If you are interested in modifying, the E55 will kill the E63 (at least until MB strengthens the transmission in the upcoming 63 Twin Turbo engine).

Well,I've owned a Flint Gray E55 and absolutely loved it,best car I ever had bar none.Wish I never sold it.But it had to go&it went......
So now I have an E63 because I refuse to buy another CPO Banz cuz I got burned with the CLS55 we just bought. And since there are no more brand new E55's to be had I reluctantly bought a Flint Gray E63.It's an incredible car,I can feel the improvements in braking&handling&the sound from the exhaust is music to my ears.It doesnt have the "slam your skull into the headrest" low-midrange thrust like the s/c 55&I really miss that.I've yet to run it hard thru the gears as it only has 500miles on it so far.
I'm really hoping it's a screamer above 4k rpm's like I'm thinking an all aluminum big block 32 valve head engine should be...
I ran a best time of 12.40@116mph w my E55(stock tires SUCK) and I can promise that as soon as I put some more miles on it's heading to the track to see whats up
Either way,there both great cars

Final thoughts...
You see the two cars are not that far apart. Most 55 owners are highly protective of their cars so it’s a psychology thing. One has the “beast” and then another car comes up to challenge that number 1 position and everyone gets defensive, even someone that drives an S430. Still no comparison in owning a new E63 with better handling and brakes to buying a used 55 that will depreciate like a dropped “sack” of potatoes.

Anyone making a statement like that is full of ****. In many ways the E63 is extremely similar looking to the E55. The E63 has many improvements including better handling that nobody will argue. The power struggle relates only to short races and maybe the E55 is slightly faster in the 1/4. Rolling along side by side the E63 will hold its own. The lack of the SC is why I went to the E63 from the 55. I was always having an issue with the SC. I won't continue to bore you so...the best reason to get an E63 now is the lease deal that is available. For $999 a month and some $$ down you can be burning rubber and showing one off to your friends. The lease comes with most of the goodies you will want. Go ahead put the first 1,000 miles on it and pick your color. After 33 months lease another E63TT

This one will go over well....
The truth is as follows:

I have found this article to be quite accurate even though written by a Merc lover.
If you can afford it, pay it. You can’t take it with you. And if you can, if you’re driving this mean machine, they’ll never catch you.

bottom line is in real life when you roll up to a light and there is 63 and 55 you will want to see whos dicc is bigger. i for one know my E55 will smoke any E63 out there so i would choose a 55 any day over the 63.

Bottom line, in real life that doesn't make your dicc bigger...
Harder, maybe....but we get your point.
