Problems with K&N Filters

Has anyone here had any problems with after market filters such as K&N, Green, etc.? Your input is greatly appreciated.

I have read that W210 E55s will tend to have problems with their MAS as a result of the oil on the K&N filter. As air is drawn in the oil is pulled in as well it then contaminates the Mass Airflow Sensor and causes rough running and power loss.

On the W211 E55Ks I have not heard or read of any problem but they have a MAP.

So your 55 K&N or Green, the latter being my choice
and your 430 I would stay with OEM.

I've been running K&Ns on both E55s with no issues, but I only put about 10K miles on each.

I run K&Ns no issues so far. The ones who get problems are usually the ones who over re-oil themselves.

Can the charcoal filters be removed for long periods of time?
Where are they located?
By my questions you can tell I'm a newbie. Just trying to get in the 11 sec club.

They've been around for years on the motorcycle aftermarket&within the past 10yrs or so have become popular with cars as well.Basically,it's a re-useable filter that can be washed&cleaned&then put back into service.K&N hypes a "1,000,000 mile warranty" on them.
I got a price from my buddy from his store for $25 each,so what the hell I might as well put them in.

I've heard the oil MAF rumors too BUT

have put 100k+ miles on K&Ns for my M3, M5, and now E55. Always one of my 1st mods.
