Top speed limiter
I have an 03' E55 and I knoww it is limited at 155 but today for some reason I hit 155 and the engine sounded diferently and then my speedometer started to got up and I hit 156 but his the brakes because of traffic. Does anyone know why I was able to hit 156?

I don't think all the 55's limit at excactly the same point. 155mph plus up to 5mph more in some cases. I've seen 261kmh only once and very often get to 258kmh (160mph).
Does anyone know if there is software to remove the top speed without mb picking up the change, don't want to lose the maintenance plan,

Here is how the limiter works (direct from Rob Allen back when he was AMG marketing):
If you punch the car and go through the limiter, then it will let you get to a hair over 160. I've seen 160 on mine.
If you creep up to speed, it will limit you at 155.
It was all about momentum and safety. They did not want the car to abruptly slow down or hesitate, so they programmed it that way.

Out Of Control!!
Mine begins the process at 156 and is fully engaged at 158. It has not yet allowed me to reach 159 , no matter how fast I am accelerating when the limiter kicks in.
