I really feel ambivalent about this trade. On one hand, I love how I modded the car and the look of the beast got me a lot of complements. On the other hand, I don't want to deal with a car that had been in two accidents in less than 2 years of ownership.
So, after quite some thought, I pulled the trigger on a quite loaded 335xi (minus sport pkg and PDC) two weeks ago, and the car came in to the dealership Tuesday. I took quite a hit on the trade due to the accident, but I kinda expected that. I took deliver of the 335xi today. Although I was sad to see my E55 go, I was also surprised by how well built the 335xi is. It is on par, if not better, than the E55 (albeit the pleather trims). The car felt very solid on highway and I was doing over 100 on I-95 without even knowing it (was talking to the wife on the wife with the onboard BT).
Next up will be a Targa 4S ordered to build in December for January delivery. Thanks Steve (scruffyone) for the hook up!
Pictures will come once I get some mods done to this car (already ordered quite a bit of mods!?)

My twin is gone. But yeah, call me superstitious.... but if a car attracts accidents, you'd better let it go... no matter how much you like the car.
Congrats anyway.... I'm more excited to see your Targa 4S

She's never forgotten. She has her own site
It's one of the best cars I've owned so far. I have not experienced a single problem with the electronics or mechanics or rattles on the car during the time I owned this car. It just felt very solid and definitely beats most of the cars on the roads today (there aren't that many exotics up here but saw a Gallardo and an F430 Spyder all in one night on Saturday though)
I know people would think the E90 is a step down from the beast. This is most certainly true for the interior (quality of leather, amount of plastic --> not that MB is any better). However, the handling characteristics, the power delivery from the N54 engine, and the 6 speed auto trans in sport or manual mode, are definitely on par, if not better than the beast. Also I'm enjoying a smaller size vehicle in Boston's traffic. The only think that really sucks are the RFTs, they bounce at very slow traffic
and I'm changing the stock wheels and tires out next week.
For the ultimate street machine, I'd wait for a Targa4S that's s/c'ed by RPM with the EVOMS supercharger

congrats..
i'm looking at the 335i coupe or 535i around Nov/Dec.
both will be upgraded with Vishnu Procede ECU...
just waiting to see how the numbers look on the 535.. since it probably will have better traction than the 335i.
sadly to say.. but I will wait until the E63's come down in price or the new C63 before I go back to AMG.
its just a thought for now..
