2003 E55 - 16k miles - Reliability? Warranty?

Well, i'm about to pull the trigger on an 03 E55 with 16k miles. I am getting the car for a great price and have driven it. It runs strong, can roast the tires from a dig with the traction control off, and seems to be in great shape. My dilemma is this:

I have been reading a lot about reliability issues. While the car has a few months of warranty left, I don't want to get into a daily driver that will cause me problems in the future. So I guess I'm asking all of you...what have your experiences been? Stay away from an 03? Get an aftermarket extended warranty (being purchased from an individual)?

Thanks in advance,
Peter

Crystal ball is broke on the car you are looking at. But, I will say this, if you can purchase a warrantee for it buy one in a heartbeat.

They are spendy to fix and are far from Lexus/Toyota in terms of required trips to the service department.

Let us know what develops.

+1006 on the Warranty.

If you can swing an '04, Nav is available.

Good luck w/ purchase.

Definitely get a warranty. Paying for fixes will suck.
I love my car, but MB it not a stranger to service. (Most Germans aren't)

I'd go the dealer you're looking to have her serviced at, and ask them what warranties they sell.

Aftermarket warranty $3500-$4500, covers many things that OEM warranty doesn't. It is a must have, some are nation wide in-case you break down in Renn Techs driveway .

I just bought a 7 yr / 100k exclusionary warranty on my '03 CL55 for $2,600 with a $50 deductible. Of course you only get the balance of the 7yr 100 from your in-service date.
