CLK63 Black Edition Wheel

Is there anyway to retrofit this wheel to work in our cars?

Are you sure about that? That steering wheel looks different than the facelifted E. It'd be hot if it would tho.

You need to ask Steve about the difference, but I think the '05 and '06 are fine in the electronics department for the paddle shifter.

Go take a look at a E350 with the sport package, has the same style of steering wheel buttons and same style of airbag (basically the style in the CLS or SL).

The steering wheel is just a steering wheel, you need to add the buttons and the airbag back into the wheel.

I know the wheel itself will fit, id just have to get the SL style airbag. the problem would be with getting the paddles to work. My cars an 04, so im told the electronics are different...

The airbag is just the newer one that comes on later E classes, CLKs, Sl's ETC.. The earlier E's 03' 04 have a different airbag.. Im ready to buy this wheel, i just wanna make sure i can get these paddles to work, or at least swar my buttons, and electronics into it if neccesary.. Hmm...

Did you purchase the airbag from him too? Does it come with the buttons (not shift paddles) do you know?

No, i already have the airbag from another wheel i had laying around with the buttons... Its only the wheel, no bag, no buttons. Comes with paddles though, getting those to work is going to be the hard part. Cant wait, its gonna feel so good driving with that wheel.. <---- we need a smiley pushing paddles instead of the shifter..

I'm in the market for a new wheel too, please keep us up to date if this works. I'd appreciate it. I also have an '05 that should not have problems w/ the new style controls/bag.

The auction says 365mm. Anyhow, still smaller than the standard ones. The seller just emailed me for the pricing of the complete steering wheel, buttons and the airbag for $1,205.42 USD shipped. Not a bad deal at all.
How much are the MP Design ones again?

Yeah.. I guess he used the same pictures, or the steering wheels just looked the same but with different sizes. 350mm is really nice. The more reduction in its size the more improvement on the handling.

Ok, well the wheel is on the way. now after a few emails with Steve @ MbenzNL seems that pre 05' E's might need a steering wheel control module.. dont know what that is.. Has anyone upgraded there 03-04 E55 with a newer 05-07 steering wheel with the newer airbag? So confused
