New to me E55
Hey all,
I bought an '04 E55 about a month ago and just saying hello. It had 57K miles and is in excellent condition. I had the CF front lip installed, as well as, the rear spoiler - both from Euroteck. Last weekend I did the following myself for preventative maintenance and early 60K. Did I miss anything?

I am considering a nice car like yours as well. Do you mind telling how much you had in material doing that maintence? Maybe something additional that you could have done would be a transmission flush and a coolant flush. Just a thought.

I took a couple of pics of the intercooler pump change which I can post as well. Changing the pump and bleeding the line only took about 30 minutes.

No warranty. The car was very well maintained and everything was up to date as far as I could find. I bought it from a good friend who's almost as **** retentive as I am with cars. I built the engine and trans in my last car so I've got a pile of tools. Not to mention being very dealer averse.

I guess it really depends on how you measure performance. bobistheoilguy.com is a good site to check out for detailed info. I'm only speaking from personal experience, but came from a turbo environment where the oil was being shared so it saw more stress. Years ago I was trying to diagnose an oil pressure issue in my car, and I didn't want to damage my new Garrett GT30 so I sent the oil off for analysis. I was using Mobil 1 and the 40 weight oil had sheared down to effectively a 20 weight oil. I switched to Amsoil and never looked back. Mobil 1 is an excellent product and I'm sure either will work fine. I'm only speaking from my own personal experience. After I changed the E55's oil it no longer sounded as "mechanical" as before, and the M1 I pulled out only had a couple thousand miles on it.

Brian,
thanks for the heads up on the price of the work. when/if i go with the E55 i will look you up on here. my price range is looking as if i maybe able to get about the same type of E you got. (earlier model with 40k ish miles) thanks again and you have a beautiful ride! if the front is free of rock chips, you might want to look into a clear shield type of product for the front. i have one on my black SUV and it has saved that vehicle. just FYI

Welcome aboard!
Few things to check with that many miles other than what you listed.
- Brake pads/rotors
- Brake fluid change/bleed
- Tranny fluid
- Differential Fluid
- Fuel Filter Recall
- Battery test main/aux
Glad to see another AMSoil guy.

Yes, they are the same and located under and behind the glovebox. You need to remove the cover first and the two access doors will be readily apparent. Very easy to DIY.
