"Z06 Vs. SLR; Before this race the SLR had slaughtered all it's competition including an SL65.....So I was pretty sure the same would happen to me....But no....to my big surprise the Z06 was faster than the SLR up to 250/260 km when I had to go into 5th gear.......And missed......so I lost the race....but only the last 100 meters or so due to my own fault...."

whats going on here, this thread is getting ridiculous...OK so if there was something "theoretically" wrong with the E55 the outcome would have been closer, so freakin what, the end result would have been the same...and thats a whoopin from a Zo6, the guy says he traps 126 and thats a FAST trap, givem a break![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)

Also, just to make things clear. I dynoed at 450 rwhp on a Mustang dyno and then redynoed on a Dynojet and put down 462 rwhp.

We will just say the edited version with the camera in your car is the more accurate version..

2004 S55 AMG
Hey guys,
Do keep in mind that I do have lighter tires in the back, a filter, and a short throw shifter. Not much, but before all that, I ran an 11.5 with a best trap of 126 mph. Also, rememmber that the E55's sweet spot was not really utilized in this race. I am guaranteeing that from a dig, it would be much a better race. The Z06 is an extremely difficult car to hook up on the street, but the PS2's do help a bit. On the other hand, I don't think a lot of people understand how quick the Z06 is. At a recent event from the M5 Boards, a Z06 pulled ahead of an SLR and stayed ahead all the way to 160 mph. All the Z06 had was a filter and a tune. My car made 460 rwhp and weighed in at 3080 lbs with a half tank of gas. With a driver mod, this car is very hard to beat. Some of you can call BS, and that is ok with me, because I would do the same if I never drove the Z06.
All in all, I had a great time and I will be looking forward to more races to share with you guys. Now, if I only had the video of me and the Sl65 I raced from a roll..definitely a fast car..![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Jays edit! Looks real nice. Great work Jay. Anyway, the bottom line is the Z is a fast car! With its power to weight and a good driver they are devastating. If you must race one as I posted earlier here would be my plan. First, remove about 600 pounds out of the E, then a 100 shot nitrous, 100 octane unleaded(let the ecu re-learn), plus my existing RT stage 5 and you should be right there. Short of this, a stockish Z will run with(on the roll) evos that run 126-128mph in the quarter, 997 turbos that trap 126-128mph in the quarter and on a roll race the Z would definatly hold its own. Considering that these Evos and 911's are making 550awhp to the ground on a dyno jet and that they weigh in the 3400-3500lb range, one can see what a equalizer power to weight truely is. When comparing trap speeds in the quarter you have a good indication of power but it is not a true indicator of power when you race from a roll to a much higher MPH. If Fadis car is making 460 on a mustang dyno, its prolly closer to 490ish on a dynojet...and at 3100lbs 490rwhp is more like 590rwhp when compared to a car that weighs at least 1000lbs more(more lice 1200lbs more). So a 4300lb E55 would need at least 590rwhp to make this, well a race...short of that and you will be victomized if the Z driver has any skills.

Yeah maybe we should bring your Z down to our shop Fadi to get the dyno numbers for all of our cars from one specific dyno for all of the doubters.

Trap speeds are good, but roll races are very dependent on gearing not to mention driver for manual cars....my point was that people see a 126 trap and say "no way that ZO6 is stockish!!!" they think it has head work and or cams or maybe think the owner is hiding a NOS kit, but really it traps 126mph due to the weight issue and the higher the speeds go tdue to the ZO6's gearing the worst it gets for the heavier/higher COE drag competitor...and thats all I was trying to say.

Yeah I think that little back window in the Z has a reverse binocular effect on recordings....lol

I was using your weight argument and you come back with "I do not know much about cars"?
We were discussing Physics and you were explaining why the Z06 walks away so easily. Then when turning to the Impala you add other parameters which also exsisted between the 55 and the Z06 yet no mention . You car destroyed a heavily modded 55. Great run, nothing wrong with your car , do you actually believe you would do that to all similarly modded 55's?
Rocket, your 1/4 mile time was better than the Z06 prior to your car breaking. Your car when running properly is likely a tad slower meaning 2-3 cars from a roll not 25-30 sorry but the result of this video shows a healthly Z06 destroying a 55 not performing so well. The torque of the 55 is what the poster leaves out of his original equation while he discusses, hp, weight, drag, lag and other physics torque is not mentioned and this certainly has a bit to do with a.

My E55 is running really strong and for that race it was a very cool night...I posted my dyno numbers and it was very much in line with the advertised Renntech numbers not to mention many of the other stage 5 owners on this board. Also the same night I pulled a modded C5ZO6 that traps 119mph really good...I will post that vid later when I get it. Again I ran a 11.66 at 121and change at Norwalk a few weeks ago. Also look at my camera view it was much closer in terms of perception than Fadis camera in the Z.

what gear were you in ? Seems like he pulled hard after he shifted the first time. Were you shifting the car or d/s? Was esp on? Sorry for so many questions I am just having a hard time with this

Okay no prob bro, first race was 30 to 120 and I was in first with ESP on. Second race was from 55 to 145 and I was in second with ESP off. My E was in S mode and I let the car shift itself....I just dropped into the proper gear and pushed my foot throught the floor board.

That is far from the truth. I have raced cars that have trapped higher than me and beat them. From a roll, gearing and aerodynamics (especially) play a big role. A car can have 4.10 final drive ratio and get through the 1/4 mile really fast, but then after the 1/4 it can die out due to lack of gear and bad aerodynamics. So, while trap speeds do tell some of the story, it doesn't tell it completely.

How does that look even? That looked more like a bus length to me.
Just think about this fellas. Take the fastest stock E55 in the QT(?) and the fastest stock Z06(10.85@129) and compare them and you see why a Z06 is faster. Even the slower Z06s run high 11s @121.
Power to weight with gearing. It's pretty easy to see what happens. If you want an E55 that will outrun a Z06 from a roll then it needs a power to weight ratio that's close to equal. With the true weight of a Z06 being about 3080 and stock power being 460rwhp on most cars that leaves you with 6.69lb/hp. WIth an E55wieghing 4200/6.69 you would need the E55 to have about 627hp. So just drop an SLR engine in and you're set.

I agree, upon 1st glance from the front they appeared to be closer till I watched it a few times, the side angle shows a beating, but considering the CLS55 had 1 stage less, and the C6 Z06 was modded by Lingenfelter to 616hp I expected more of a win
