Question for fellow 63er's
#2
on the fwy from a 80 mph roll , slight pull around 115.
this race, as if you raced another 63 is usally determined by who gets the jump.
55 gets the jump it will stay in front to about 110.
63 gets the jump it will be reeled in slightly but regain distance after 5th gear.
of course my experience is with STOCK 55's the modded ones uh well the one modded one that lined me up had the clock spin backwards and forgot to shift. LOL , The stock versions the difference is negligible in a race.
Good luck,
make sure on the fwy you are in 3rd gear when you launch
make sure from a dig you turn TC off!!Use paddle and shift as close to 7200 as possible

by no means do I want this to turn into a flame war. Personally I really dont care who is faster. I love my 63 and I love the 55. I just want to know what is normal out there.
Reason Im asking is because I raced a stock 55 on the highway. We started at about 30-40MPH till about 110-120. I got the jump and he was still able to pull on me both times. There was also a second person in the 55. I was alone in the 63.
I still have the old ECU flash on my car. Anybody think this will help any when I get it reflashed?

Sounds correct,
gotta race the 55 from a dig and get the jump or race from 80-150 you will pass him. Course you coulda been racing a 55 w/mods in which case you have no chance really.
Here is a drag race between the E63 and E55, you can see frame by Frame the 55 makes up a bit but cannot catch the 63. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iWD7x9qOPA

absolutely!!
this car will open up and likely needs 15k miles and a few oil changes. Ofcourse if you drive it like an accord it will get 20 MPG and feel like a Honda in the power dept. Sam recently got 26.4 MPG driving from Palmdale to Los Angeles. D/C cruising at 75.. This would be the time to race a fellow 63 er after either a long day sitting in traffic or when one is in D/C LOL...You really have two different cars with this ECU and TCU

If you wanna hang with the 55, or any fast car this should be your #1 motto.
Just keep an eye on your oil and add if needed. The guys taking it easy will fall victim and also be the ones complaining they got destroyed by a Maxima. Thank goodness members here warned me as my car was starting in 2nd gear for the first 800 miles, LOL, I could not believe it when she finally found 1st...Man HUGE DIFF. I think most the 63 owners here are aware of the need to torture the pedal. Course I think the S class guys are gonna take some work, and the CL...They all seem to wanna play baby car. Take it to a track, do whatever it takes to keep the shift points as you like.

Antero J200I's car is stock. U only have 700+ miles on your car. Don't worry, in time your car will break in! Did U learn the ECU reset? Use this everytime you fill with gas. I reset and it seems like a new car everytime. U also need to get comfortable with your car. Don't TINK... ...FEEL the power as you massacre your opponent grasshopper!

I did the ECU reset last night and the car is actually shifting over 7100 RPM. When I was racing you guys it shifted at 6900 in 3rd gear and above . I still suck in manual mode as well. Need to get the hang of proper shift points.

Make sure you use the highest OCTANE available. Your engine is running on air and fuel so it needs good air and fuel, the air should be dry and cool and the fuel 93+ octane. Race your buddies when the temp is 75 and under, race em from a roll on the fwy using 3rd gear end of 4th gear should be enough to get you to 143-145 mph. 3rd and 4th are best gears for speed, 4th is not good to start in though. You should feel a difference in the car in about 500 more miles. Also make sure when going full throttle you are hitting the kickdown button at the bottom of the gas pedal. Practice this by getting the car in d/s and 7th gear. Hammer it a properly running car will take the car from 7th to 2nd or 3rd and proceed shifting up untill you lay off. The key is getting it to "kickdown" for maximum throttle

I always fill up with 93 Shell V-power. I always hit that kickdown button.
here is the video of me running the stock E55. I was in M mode in 3rd gear. I did shift into 4th to early though.

I go to the filling station on the north east corner of Fairfax/la brea as it's most convenient on my commute but the 76 on Sunset/Laurel has good service if you have any tire issues etc. Still, both carry only 91.
