03 E55 with 28k miles for $44k, deal?
I am looking at buying an 03 E55. It has 28k miles and the best deal I could negotiate was $44k. It is still in warranty for another month or two. Is this a good deal? It is a one owner off lease car with clean carfax. I attached a pic of the car.
Also, any inherent problems with an 03 that I should consider?
Can you get factory satellite radio?
Bluetooth to connect a phone or do you have to buy MB phone?
Wheel question: Anyone have pics of Klass KF200 or KF300 on an E55?

2005 E55, 2004 E55(sold), 2001 Viper GTS, 2006 Viper VOI9, 1994 ZR-1 Corvette 2009 Viper ACR,
eh, average deal... I have seen 04's with that mileage, for around that price. INCLUDING Nav., which 99% of 03's wont have.. Keep looking..

You are much better off looking at a later model for around the same price. Be sure and get an extended warranty if you go for the 03. I have noted many issues with the 03 that you will have to deal with. Good luck.

I wouldn't purchase these vehicles without a warrenty.... Especially with the IC pump issue and what not.... There are some clean 55's for sale on the boards....help out a board member and purchase one of those....

you better off paying $47k to 49k for a CPO with extended warranty car.
either way.. you will have to dish out the money buying a 03 car with no warranty.
Remember that Warranty plans are very expensive for AMG and some companies don't cover AMG's.
I don't see a point of buying the cheapest E55 if you don't have warranty....
if you plan to finance.. its only a few bucks more. If you plan to pay cash, finance the rest and you will have peace of mind.

I have looked into an extended warranty from my local MB dealer and it is around 2k for 2 years which is probably the most I will keep the car for (same coverage as factory warranty with $50 dollar per visit deductible). I have not been able to find any CPO cars in the Southeast for 47 - 50k. I just can't see a downside to buying an 03 given what I can get a warranty for unless the 2003 models have much more problems than an 04. Plus this car has such low miles. Am I wrong?

Vadim is practically an AMG engineer, therefore I would definately take his advise.
E55, no matter what year will have a something go wrong. Specially if you plan to any kind of mod.
Suspension problems are common, Transmission problems are common, electrical issues.. ect

geez, aren't all Mercedes, AMG or not, built to last 15 years, 200k miles minimum?? everyone here makes it sound like E55s are built like ***** and won't hit 50k without self destructing. Are we talking about $95k Mercedes cars here or a f##king Geo??

80 and 90's MB are great products..
but for the past years the survey showed a drop off in quality and reliability.
I have a 2002 built in 2001 with 70k miles and it runs good, but nothing compared to a honda/nissan/toyota with the same milage.
My C32 has 7 years in service @ 10k miles per year and the thing has tons of electrical problems. Check out the C32 board for laundry list of issues.
My 2003 e55 has fewer problems, but still has some bugs. Jerky transmission, chirping of kompressor, heat soak and lost of full power, bad Ic pump, active seats that work half the time, vibration at cold start up.... ect
It is not until now that MB is really addressing the problem.
I can only speak about AMG C32 and E55 and so far my verdict of reliability is poor. But the fun factor makes up the difference.

Bought a 2004
with pano roof, nav, parktronic, heated/cooled seats had 28k miles on it and in perfect condition. Thanks for all of the input. I am glad I spent the extra money and got the 04 with extra goodies. Now I need to decide on some rims. BBS LM-R, Klass KF-300 or AMG SL65. Choices . . . .
