I wouldn't touch it for a multitude of reasons and besides, it just doesn't make sense. It would have to have way too much explained away.
It looks like nothing more than an unconverted, grey market, 500SEC, wide body, AMG clone. Or an AMG body modded only car.
Someone should start asking him some real questions and scare all the bidders off.

Clean motor ... and pretty clean looking for the age of the car ... but not for me thanks. Whats the power ?

I sent the seller a message asking for some details. His reply was full of errors just like his listing.
I asked why he shows a U.S. vin # on a Grey market car. His reply was "vin nr of car is Euro there for ebay do not except a euro vin, so i put my other US 1990 vin in order to complete my add". So what the actual vin # is, he hasn't included, so what good would a carfax report be for his other car?
As far as a clean engine goes, yellow tape on the wiring harness, top air cleaner stud/wingnut broken off of a wrong U.S. emissioned dual snorkel air cleaner with unused air injection filter mounting holes left open, black shiney electrical taped harness (at front of engine beside dipstick), and aftermarket cruise, (surprising for such a well optioned car as he described).
I asked about the air cleaner assembly , he replied "air cleaner came that way, all AMG 5,4L comes with upreared air cleaner system".
I asked him about the dot/epa conversion and could he show pictures of the exhaust. His reply was "yes car has all service and documentation, also car has amg muffler". In these pictures, it doesn't even have the desirable exhaust manifolds from M.B., just the regular low performance log versions.
At it's current bid of $25,600 it's way over priced for no proof of it's history, (AMG wide body conversion, etc.) and it's questionable seller who has already admitted using a different vin (false information).
Better pictures would provide even more details to show that what you would get is not what you thought you were getting.

This car is a sad example of my finest memory... My dad's first AMG... a 560 SEC Hammer 6.2 (yes 6.2, not 6.0), close to a $200k build... all blacked out.. sounded like a NASCAR car. And considering that the price he sold it for was not much more than this... well...

I know, I know.... when I was 14 I thought this car was so badass, but damn.. I want to kick myself for liking it as much as I did in the 80's
