Break in period on E63

Hi guys,
Just leased a blk/blk E63, P2, voice, shades, ipod, parktronic.

What is the typical brake in period, and what does it mean? (keeping it below what rpm?) Does it matter to me on a 33mo. lease?

Love the car. Thanks for any input

LOL.

Personally, I would experiment with this if it was a lease: http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

I remember reading about a 55K car owner here who followed that procedure, and ended up dynoing at ~450rwhp BONE STOCK.

I just got my new E63 and the lovely 597 page owners manual has very specific procedures for break in including No Kickdown use rev limits and so on and on and on..... I would check your oil level and auto trans fluid Today ! All the German makes seem to deliver these cars with low fluids for some reason?? My trans failed at 199 miles of easy driving but MB has been very nice and is replacing it with a new one.

actually, I broke my car in hard and I swar it out performs others of the same model (audi S4) I know some friends that have done the same, I would infact agree with this link / concept.

Essentially you need to drive it for 1500k, making sure you do not exceed 4500rpm and denfintely no kickdown. After 1500k gradually step up the pace!

E63 Break-In Period ????

Opinions seem to be divided on the break-in issue ???? My car will be arriving soon, and I don't know whether I should break it in hard or follow the Manual for the soft break-in procedure ????

Did anybody experience bad results with breaking in hard?

If something does go wrong during harsh break-in, can a dealer find out and void warranty?

nope... finance. The reason for finance is because I am thinking of keeping the car for at least 4 to 5 years. I figured the new shape E-Class will be out in fall of 2009 (as a 2010 model). Then a year later, the AMG version will come out, and then I usually wait one more year for the second model year to come out. I don't trust the first model year. I rather wait and give Mercedes/AMG a year or so to iron out all the little issues. So this adds up to 4 years (maybe 5 if any delays occur) from now. I'll probably have the car paid off in 2 to 3 years and enjoy no payments for a couple of years. Then, E63 Twin Turbo here I come...

Congrats and enjoy the beast! My recommendation would be a hard break-in. I don't know if this is psychological but, every car that I have broken in hard appears to be much faster later than similar ones that are not broken in hard. Just my subjective observation.

Would you mind sharing the terms of your lease: months, mileage, down and payment (also if possible the capitalized cost).

I got the "typical" 33/12 offered now (well, it's 33/10 but I upgraded to 12K).

The drive off was $1790 and the car is $93.9

The monthly is.................$1120 including CA tax, and I got sucked in to get the lease return insurance ($600)

If you look in the top left corner of the windshield, there is a sticker there with break-in limits with regards to speed, etc. It's a bit more straight and to the point than the manual.
