I actually spoke to Brabus about this who quoted me approx $3000 plus the car being down for two weeks while it is sent overseas. I believe that most all the tuners offer an option for this, but like you I was looking into stock. If someone may correct me, I believe that the cluster, your keys, and other controls etc are all interrelated (Therefore not just an easy swap of an 05 full cluster to ours).

I was hoping that the digital dash readout may go higher, though from a youtube video I have seen, it also will cut off at 160.

The digital matches the analog. I was told there were legal issues associated with easy swapping due to odometer readings.

ENDSMTG told me that his early '05 came with the 160mph speedo, he made them swap it with the 200mph one. They did it, so it can be done, not sure on the details though.

That's a bunch of baloney. Your cluster is an electrical component and can fail - which means it would have to be replaced.

If MB is like Audi - the mileage is programmable on a new cluster for the first 50 miles. There are some A4 guys who swap clusters because the center information display comes as a red LED display unless you get a certain option package and have a certain year. There are guys who didn't have the option for a red cluster who buy the cluster with the full color LCD and have to fork out $1500 but the dealer installs it just as if the original cluster had failed. It's the complete assembly just like you are looking at doing.

You need to ask another dealer. It can be done. The only problem that may exist is the difference in protocols - IE, CANbus vs. MOST, etc.

Ask Sunil to do the swap for you. I'm not an E55 expert, but as long as they both use the same protocol, you should be able to swap them.

Sunil swapped a W209 CLK cluster in to my W203 C32.

AMG rider, it is not so difficult. I swapped mine with 63 AMG speedo and it works flawlessly. A211 540 32 48 (200mph 55 style). Cost:562.07 Euro. Good luck and join our new cyworld club if you can.
