Sounds good. I'll give you a call. Can't wait to hear the growl in person.

By the way, after you left Leslie(Black E55 at E-town) ran a 12.1 @118mph 1.7 or 8 60ft in his K2 55 with Conti's which was actually his first time ever drag racing that car or any car on an organized drag strip. I told him to use your technique. Not too shabby for a first timer. He should be able to run mid 11's with more practice.

Next time at the track we will have two E63's there!
It was geat meeting you, too! Nice run by Leslie, especially considering those rubber band-thin tires? What size were his wheels??

You really can improve your time with practice. I'm sure Leslie will do great the more he runs.

We'll get together again soon.

On your BEST runs with the 2.00 shorts, is that traction limited? I've screwed up the launch in my car and run mid 12s, but usually with a higher than 2.00 60'.

The E63s have been out long enough that if they actually ran faster (or even the same) as the E55s, we'd see it in the best posted timeslips. How many E55s have posted 11 second stock timeslips? What about 12.0x? How many 63s have done the same?

I love all the E* AMG cars, but there is no empirical evidence to show that the E63 is quicker than the model it replaced. There are plenty of us with E55s that have posted consistently quicker ETs than ANY E63.

Sorry Wayne but there are very few 63's on the drag strip. Its really not the car most folks take. The E55 on the other hand has 5 years of culture, 5 years of mods, 5 years of practice. We should start seeing the cars(63) gain some speed no pun intended. We need more guys getting the car to the track and racing. I admit the E55 is likely the most capable 4 door luxury dragster on the planet. A 55 can be beaten by a 63 in some instances but the SC definately gives it an edge in the 1/8th and 1/4 mile.

That trap speed you have in your signature is almost identical to what I am trapping. I believe the only difference is in the 60' time. At the beginning it was b/c the 63 was starting in 2nd gear. Since I got the reflash it now starts in first. I am still 'practicing' for the optimal launch and if I can get a 1.8 60' I will be in the 12.2 range.

I understand what you're saying and you may be right, but there are more E63s out there than yours, 05Venom. If the E63 was faster than the E55, there would be guys posting up the same numbers on a consistent basis.

https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/184041-results-maryland-track-day.html

If you'll read the post from my last trip, out of 13 passes 11 were 12.1-12.2. The previous trip I only made 2 passes, both were 12.2@116+. That's what I'm looking for in the E63 - someone to bust out with a consistent LOW 12 second ride.

I'm not putting down the E63 or even saying that they're slow. It's just that in our little group here on MBWorld.org, the E55s have posted consistently faster times.

Sadly I have to agree. I have been a regular at E-town for the past two decades and since the intro of the 63 last year have not seen ONE at the track.(CLS or E). Now I understand the car and especially the engine is new and people want a proper break-in period but the owners are just not at the strip( unless they always seem to go when I am not there). I am even having a hard time getting together with the 55 crew. Although me and Enzom are trying to hook up in the near future. I just want an oportunity to run against any other AMG 55 or 63 ...just for funnsies.

05VENOM,
I'd be happy to put my stock E55 up against your 63. I was at Atco with the car for the first time on Tuesday. Even in 80* air with less than ideal conditions it went 12.4@114mph.
I'll run it at E-town. The next few weeks aren't very good for me with my travel schedule. It might have to be in August or September.

That was my black E63 in those 2 videos. The car only had about 800 miles on it. Frist vid was in S mode, second in M. I shifted way to early.

I am always down for some fun. Aug/Sept is good. I am only 20 minutes from the track.

P.S. Lots of people seem to have a 55/63 and some model year Viper. I completely love the 63 but there is no better
'Thrill' ride than a Viper! How about those specs on the
'08 with Mopar performance package.

Great car man! thanks for participating. This result can happen, but you can also reverse this result in a 1000 more miles and hard driving.

Yep...there are several Viper owners on the boards who have or had an AMG (E- or S-class).
Like everybody else, I'm waiting to see what the '08 brings. It should be interesting. I'm a Gen II guy though. Any Viper is awesome, but I like the looks of the GTS's over the SRT's...all a matter of personal preference.
Anyway...

I don't think he's going to "reverse" those results. At best, he might hang with, or not get pulled as hard by, the 55.

You will be suprised the car picks up at least .5 after a few k. Well at least mine did. If the 55 gets the jump it stays in front..Same is true for the 63, you get the jump race is over. He shifted far too early , it needs 7200 rpm to run at its MAX. He shifts later and his car maintains the lead. When it has 2000 more miles he will pick up some. This race was close and will be closer when the car is broken in. Yes it is possible for a 55 to get pulled by a 63 and vice versa

edit* LOVE YOUR color combo 55!!!!!! Barolo red , sik
