Sold the beast... bought a 996 TT, X50
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I will definitely find out. I was just reading the same thing about the PCCB. The car only has 21k miles and was locally driven. Obviously I paid somewhat of a premium on the car because of this option and the interior, so i will definitely make sure they don't need replacing anytime soon.
oh ya... it's a 2003
Congrats on the 996 X50. I had a 2002 model. Standard turbo is 415 HP and 415 Lb/Ft torque. X50 is 450 HP and 457 Lb/Ft torque. You definitely feel a difference with the X50 package.
X50 goes from K-16 turbos to K-24's, larger intercoolers, remapped ECU, reworked exhaust, GT3 oil cooler, and steel synchros on first through third gears. I had both the 996 X50 and the E55 at the same time. Both are beast to drive. Unfortunately, for my wallet, I made the mistake of driving an '07 997 Turbo with the Variable Vane Technology, my goodness what a differnece those turbos make to the torque curve. Lag is pretty much gone and it pulls at all RPM's. The 997 is now keeping the E55 company. I do miss the 996 X50 though. It should be a lot of fun for you and very easy to modify.
