New Wheels/Issue(s)-Question

Just put on new wheels (19's) and treads (275/35 & 245/30). All looks good, but noticed on road/fwy steep dips and once on hard turn there seemd to be a scraping sound. Went to MB dealer today and service guy put 55 on rack and mentioned there was slight scrape marks (black tire rubber) on inside part fender where it faces flush to treads-assume outer part of larger tread edge is what touched; the inside of wheel well looked ok. This doesn't happen all the time, but here and there given road elements. Has anyone else that swapped to 19's experience this? Can anything thing be done to totally mitigate, or a part trade off for running larger wheels/treads? Any issues with this? Will try to post pic's soon. Did tread/tire combo at Tire Rack for Weds Bavaria II's & B'Stone reo5oa's 's. Thanks all.

damn bud...you're having a hard time getting rims/tires to work for you. this is an incorrect offset issue. with the proper offset you should be able to run 255/35/19 and 285/30/19 on a lowered vecicle with ZERO rubbing issues.

Agree, this is an off set issue. Check the wheels and post the numbers. You can't fix this. Either you need new wheels or try raising the car (if lowered). Sorry.

i know, i know. went to Tire Rack and supposedly w/ their proper measurement/s for ofsset etc. for specific vehilces, all should be well. well, the wheels are hub-centric and perfect center bore etc., but as mentioned, over a few steep dips on road/fwy seems the treads are scraping/scratching; happend once to my wife, and twice today to me (have only had new pkg on for a couple days). assume, this should not be happening at all (irregardless of normal suspension, or sport 1/2). not keen on driving w/ airomatic suspension lift height! anyway, yeah, this has been something else. any further insights appreciated. assume though wheels are mounted, Tire Rack should honor proper fitment gaurantee, or find proper resolution? Thoughts welcome-thanks all. Staying in the hunt...

here are the wheels (info from Tire Rack site)-thanks. one note, though says 265/30 for rear, sales rep mentioned tire size listed is a mis-print and should read 275/30 (which is what i have and was shipped on rear wheels).

Weds Bavaria II's:
Front-
Size: 19x8
Offset: +32mm
Bolt Pattern: 5-112
Rec. Tire Size:245/35-19
**Lightweight: 25.5lbs.*
Rear-
Rear Fitment: 19x9
Offset: +30mm
Bolt Pattern: 5-112
Rec. Tire Size:265/30-19
**Lightweight: 27.5lbs.**

is your car lowered? if not i cant even guess why it would rub unless you went over some serious un-even pavment.

Hi Rocket,

no lowering module. 55 is standard. this happend sport/1/2 and city ride option/s. not sure what is happening??? only happend where some big dips on 101 north here in Marin. assume this should not be happening at all and not okay (or should not live with) if even once in awhile?

I don't think you specified which was rubbing (front or rear), but with only a +30 offset I believe that is your problem. you need 35-40.

thanks, Mike. Tire Rack, supposedly, does all the proper fitment measurements, so when you dial-in in car on site, only "right" fitments appear as choices-as it was with this listing that got shipped. MB tech today, said only driver rear (where mainly heard noise) and slight passenger front had rubber markings from scrapes. the wheel gods are making me work for this one, but hanging tough still...

I had same issue like your before when I had Yoko Advan on my 19'' . actually they may sent you the bad tires you should talk to tire rack or bring them to any shop tires to do road force machine . Dont talk to MB tech they dont know anything about low profile tire . BTW i'm running 19x8 F and 19x10 R with 245/35 & 285/30 with no problem at all . Hope this will help
