E63 Ventilated Seats

How do you tell if there is any effect of the ventilated seats? It's starting to really heat up in Oklahoma now that the rain has stopped. When I turn the blue lights on I feel nothing. I also have turned on the passenger seat with the same result. Please tell me how to run these damn things?

lol, they don't do much. they actually pull air instead of push it and they're good for reducing massive persperation but that's about it. wish i had better news for you.

i've thought about that but here's the problem. if you've ever been in a car with true a/c seats in very hot climates you may know where i'm going. here in az if you use a/c seats the leather is so hot that it overwhelms any cooling affect for at least the first 10-15 minutes. so until the seats finally cool, their actually blowing hot air on you. without the a/c our seats would be even worse since they're just moving air!

Simple test you can perform.
Go on a hot day and don't use them
Then on an other day and use them
If you find u do not suffer from sweaty legs + bum syndrome they work ;p
Tried this in my mums cls 500 and I didn’t notice any thing, did the test and I changed my mind J
Pity my car doest have it…. Its getting really hot over here now :-/

The effect is subtle but they do work.
If you put your ear to the ventilation holes in the back of the backrest, you can hear the fans

Lay a piece of thin paper on the seats. You should see it being "sucked' against the seat. Mine does it - I had the same question as you about whether it was functioning.

By the way, I think Mercedes should offer a 'turbo" setting for the seats, that makes noise but really pulls the air through. The surrent set-up tries too hard to be quiet, and is therfore relatively ineffective.

I wasn't sure it worked if no one was in the seat, but from your test, apparently it does.

If you don't think they are doing anything, just move to the back seat and see the difference. They will be a bit warmer.

Mine work and I'm a sweaty pig.

Do E63 owners prefer ventilated or active? I dunno which feature I'd give up first.

That was one of my 1st questions on E55

They 'suck' IMO. Try the push affect on Ford Fusion(rental) and you'll feel it...kinda like laying on a air hockey table.

And then you notice your kids passed out in the back seat from toxic fumes

The seats do break, loss of power to the fans, fuse, etc.. Mine were toasrt in my 55. I seem to feel cooled down by the seat. Course I likely would take the fans out to reduce weight for the track. Take the car in and have the dealer do an exstensive test. Pushing a button is about as complex as this operation gets

I don't have them, but my father does in his CLS. I think they work pretty good, especially here with this disgusting heat.

I like them both, but since I use the dynamic year round, I would have to pick them if I had to pick one. Glad I don't have to make that decision. BTW, I believe the 63 owners do not have a choice because the dynamic seats were discontinued after the 06 model year.

I know that the E63 does not have them as an option, but I do not know about the other cars. I love mine, but then again, I love all my gadgets.

I think they were only avaiable in the S class in 07. I do not know of any other model to list them as being available. I did notice that drive dynamic driver's seat is standard in the GL 550.

How can we get the higher airflow through the seats.

I live in Hot Southern California and have already asked my dealers Shop Foreman this very question. The Volkswagon Phaeton I previously had, pushed much more air through the seats and the New Volvo S80 really blasts it through the seats as well. Obviously there is a motor involved and an electronic control, so they could be modified ! Attn Renntech etc. Have you taken a look at this problem ?Has anyone else tried to Hot Rod the seat ventilation system ?
