The C5 z06 is an excellent road course car

The C6 Z06 is a superb road course car.

the myth about "going around corner" should officially go away with the last two generation Z06.

Or the 2005-2007 C6 base model w/Z51 suspension (the last C&D August 07' vol. 53, No.2) had them out performing the Audi R8, & Porsche 911 Turbo!! yes w/the base model LS2 400HP 400 Torque engine...Also went on to say "They have wonderful fade free brakes, but the steering was a bit numb until the driver learns to trust Vette's chassis, the Chevy can embarass almost any other car on the track."

The GT500, BMW Z4 M coupe,BMW 335i coupe, mini cooper S, Audi RS4, etc..

The 911GT3 did a bit better and the overall winner was the C6 Z06 breaking 3:00 min @ 2:58.2 !! around Virginia International Raceway

more times..
C6 Z06 2:58.2 (w/****y run-flats)
Pors GT3 3:01.8
C6 base w/Z51 3:03.6 (w/run-flats)
911 Turbo 3:05.8
Lotus Exige S 3:04.5
Audi R8 3:04.6
Audi RS4 3:11.2
Ford sh GT500 3:05.9 (but times got considerably worse after heat soak)
BMW 335I 3:10.5
BMW Z4M 3:11.7
Pontiac Soltice 3:15.7
Mazdaspeed 3 3:16.0
Mini Cooper S 3:22.9 (Slowest of the bunch!)

Yup, I just read that magazine over the weekend and I was totally amazed at the performance of the Z51. Imagine with the new LS3 engine?
Beating a 911 Turbo is no joke...so Vettes gained some major respect in my book (not that they didn't have a ton of respect in the first place).

If you think reading about the Z06 is interesting you should see one perform at the track. There is a regular at E-town that drives a yellow '06 Z...the stock
exhaust sounds amazing. I have seen him run a best of 11.2@129. Car is simply amazing. That is on the stock run-flats. Sad to say it is the only car that can take my Viper..until my '08 arrives.

The Z06 would be a fantastic car if it wasn't a Chevy. That's about all there is to say about it. It has a great engine and powertrain but Chevy interior and creature comforts.

Quote: An E55 vs. a stock Corvette would be a drivers race. I own both

An E55 vs a Z06, stock to stock, would be an easy win for the Z06.

Just look at any published numbers. It doesn't have anything to do with opinion, or theory, or how you feel about Corvettes. The Z06 wins.

It's not like they compete for the same market segment.

I love forums posts where people believe so strongly in their car that they refuse to admit that other cars do some things better.
Well said.

There are electronic gains control modules for the stock exhaust on the C6Z and other cars.

I wonder if the OP could really tell if the car he raced was a C6Z? If Coalman can say what external visual cues that he saw on the car the said it was a Z06?

True, but if it were a Mercedes or BMW, it would probably be about 700 lbs heavier...making it a very fast car instead of the rapist it is now.

The good thing about Chevy is you get a 100,000 mile warranty (or something like that, right?). 100,000 miles in a Vette is a lot...so a used Z06 will probably be a good buy in a year from now...

The build quality and interior of my C6 Z51 is far superior to that of my 07 335i. The Nav is better, the seats are better, fewer squeaks. Just a better car.

It is almost too bad it has Chevy on it. If it was an European nameplate than people would bow to it and give it the respect it deserves.

Most people don't get it. The Corvette is a true supercar. Look at the magazine results. You can get a low-end coupe for around $42K.

Find me another car with that performance at that price.

My convertible was considerably more expensive but still a huge bargain. I drive nice cars (including an E55 wagon and a 335 convertible), but I get more smiles per mile from the Corvette.

Pleeeaaassseee!!!! Give me a little credit. Anyone who knows cars can tell a Z06 from any angle. Also, how about it said Z06 on the side as we sat side by side at the light. And for the final time. We didn't race. He just sat at the light after egging me on.

Quote: Nah, I meant the legalrace.com ones at the Q stadium. But, if they have a track at Barona, then that's fine. Keep in mind, I said 1/8th mile.

I'm fully stock. Just K&Ns. Never had the pump fail.

Have you ever raced a black CLS 63 030? TT

Nope, but I ain't scared. wanna be the first to try. i know you aren't spooky enough to wanna test the twisties, so we'll keep it to the boring straights. Get your DRs on, since I am running R rated 295s back there.
Anytime, dude. Anytime. But, just for your odds, you'd best make it soon as my stages begin next week.

Sorry...but I was having dinner last night on a sidewalk restaurant on Mulberry St (little italy) and a black C6 Z06 rolled through, stopped, revved it, and drove away. It was love at first site...

And previous to this, I was with my dad at Manhattan Motorcars and the salesman was showing us the new Gallardo Superleggera, an F430, a Diablo, Exige, Spyker, Carrera GT, and many more...and still, somehow after seeing all of these gorgeous exotics, I still fell in love with the Z06. I have to get one. Lol...

It's a race car........who cares how comfortable you are doing 0-60 in 3.9 seconds or less. When your pinned to seats the comfort rating goes out the window.

Z06 = pure adrenalin rush.......E55 = Luxury/Excitement ........I prefer the best of both worlds. That's why I sold my vette and got a E55.
