C6 Z06 Encounter
So I'm cruizing down the road when a black C6 Z06 pulls in front of me from a side street. He is going fairly slow and as I get close he gets on it, then slows down and as I get close he gets on it again. He never really waited for me to get even, not that I would want to race him from a roll in any event.
Then, as luck would have it, he has to stop at the light and I pull next to him. I look over at him ( a guy in his mid to late 50's - like me) to give him the thumbs up and he is looking straight ahead. I figure he wants to play and will surely nail it off the line so ,WTF, I might as well see how badly I'll lose. I also figure I deserve the jump so as soon as the light turns green I mash it to the floor. The car jumps out about three feet, spins the tires for a second (ESP on), then bites. Turns out he just sits there then does a fly by as I wait for him to catch up.
I know I would have gotten my butt kicked. But I wanted to see up close and personal just how badly I would have lost from the dig.

How did you lose if you jumped out and had to wait?

I didn't lose. I just said I figured I would have lost if we had actually raced. I have to say though that he looked like he was a bit of a novice and who knows how he would have come out of the hole. I've raced kids in Vipers who have stalled out taking off from a light.

Your car can hang with a faster car it is all about how well you can drive especially on a road course. I am certain you have beaten faster more capable cars it happens everyday

You did not get smoked and the guy simply sat there even after goosing you, thats his prob..
Your E55 has serious torque, try and pop out w/o spinning your tires

According to you and others an AMG cannot beat a Corvette so any kill will be met with "Driver error" bullshi*

Point taken. I just don't consider those kills. I like a fair fight, since I ain't scared. By the way, notice I have always said the Z06 is faster than an E63. I never involved other AMGs. I'm just biased and busting your *****.

Ok give me some practice time on a road course. I will put on my 18" CCW wheels and a set of pilots, 030 suspension, lsd, car will be around 4400 lbs sadly. I will need to practice to beat you at Willow. I will race you tomorrow on a drag strip :-)

Practice? I've made all of 30 laps at Willow. Let me know when you are ready.
Drag strip, come down on most Fridays and we'll do the 1/8th mile aces for ****s and giggles. I'll slap you about at that, too. Don't forget you have a CLS 63, that's 2 counts against you

An E55 vs a Z06, stock to stock, would be an easy win for the Z06.
Just look at any published numbers. It doesn't have anything to do with opinion, or theory, or how you feel about Corvettes. The Z06 wins.
It's not like they compete for the same market segment.
I love forums posts where people believe so strongly in their car that they refuse to admit that other cars do some things better.
