Different tires for the front & rear

I guess I have been to the track a bit too much. With 5,000 miles my rear Conti's are worn. Fronts are fine. Question is by replacing the rear Conti's with Michelin PS2's will my daily ride suffer much. Should I upgrade to 275's?

I would upgrade to 275s. The car will push a bit more, since the rears will be bigger AND have a softer compund. Other than the balance, I mix tires all the time. I have some that I love for fronts and others that I like for rears.

Shouldn't be a problem. I ran 285 Nittos on the stock rear tires for ~11k miles or so.

I just upgraded to PS2s for the rears a few months back, went with 275s. I still have the contis up front as well. Maybe the PS2s up front will be better for handling but I couldn't justify the additional cost at this point. The setup is working out great. I would go with the 275s for the rears.

If you ever feel like throwing the car around, you can always try swapping out the front and rears for some fun. All you lose is the straight line traction and it is a good chance to wear those 245 contis down

Would that be 275-35-18's???????? I have been thinking of replacing with PS2's but my front Conti's have lots of life left.......

I have Conti's on my fronts and PS2's on my rears as we speak, TireRack was out of stock on the front PS2's so I'm waiting. Anyway I pushed the car pretty hard yesterday and there were no issues, you should be fine. I would definitely recommend all PS2's though, just because THEY RULE.

Are u sure........Checked tire rack. Their 275/30/19's and cost $68 more than the 265/35/18's.

I did not see the 275/35/18's on their site........

Now all I have to do is a lot of track time or a lot of burn outs to "spend" my tires.........

i've always ran on 275/35/18.. i have 18x9 in the front, 18x10 in the rear, when i slammed my car, i went to mercedes and asked my guy about getting smaller tires, he said the stock size 275/35/18 that comes with the car is perfect for our cars performance, no bigger or smaller

Thanks everyone for the info. I'm going to go with the
275's in the rear on the stock rims.

Utter poppycock. Wider is always better on a car with a ton of power. If you could run 305's on an E55, then you would.

Isn't the 265 35 18's stock on our cars....Not 275's...

BTW Cylinder Head, you need to send me your signature without the boobing head man. I gotta see what you are hiding DUDE.....

No E55 was sold OEM with 275s. The dealer may have blown a tire joy riding before you took it?
