And with the sheer number of AMG vehicles accompanying the mule and the team, it's thought that this was another strong indication that this is an AMG-HWA Racing project and not Mercedes-Benz.
Manufacturers are known to use other auto bodies for testing purposes for drivetrain and/or suspension components. It's been said that Porsche is testing various bits of its upcoming Panamera on the Nurburgring using not only a Cayenne but also an E60 M5 body and chassis for disguise.
Unless, of course, MB secretly bought Chrysler back from Cerberus in horror after the news that Bob Nardelli was appointed the new CEO??!!

Wish spy shot guys would give us video too. This is the YouTube age, give us the pics, but ROLL THAT CAMERA.
Sure would be great to hear that engine. Could you hear the turbo from the front of the car like you hear our superchargers?

Mercedes test mule That's 1000% VIPER down to the side rearview mirrors, taillights, side exhaust, overall body panel shape, TOO FUNNY THERE'S ABSOLUTELY not 1 styling cue from Mercedes on that vehicle...

That is a C63 with the test mule. There were other AMG cars with the test mule, so that is why everyone is speculating that indeed it was the SLC.(with a Viper outer shell) Porche in early tests of the Panemera(sp??) used a BMW M5 shell.
