Also the other vids seem as expected. The E55 from a dig and in the beginning pulls on the M5, but then due to 5 gears only loses at very high speeds. Luckily these speeds are rarely achived and the race is over by then! I myself love the V8 more than the V10.

The tire chirps are 1-2 and 2-3. The bad a$$ sounding exhaust is from Darren's M5 with his Eisenmann exhaust. (car the runs were filmed from)

It does seem that the M5's pull stronger on top, but I have to say the initial surges of the E55 were also pretty impressive, especially if the car was having heat soak problems. Also, with a 5 speed trans. I find my car has very different roll -on performance depending on speed and the shifting "mood" of my car that day. I generally don't like roll-on contests because of the resulting ridiculous speeds on the street and my car's unpredictable performance. I like to race from the dig to 70 max, then wave goodbye as they do their fly-by.

The only thing I can think of that would be fishy is poor Ray's car shutting down due to IC pump failure causing temps to go to high and the SC not engaging. That only happened during the last run though against the stock M5.
The first 3 runs were against my slightly modded M5 and RayJ55's car was running normal at that time.
Believe me, these vids were not taken to be a "let's slam an E55" type of message. It was just a few friends getting together and we thought we'd do some runs. It is by no means exhaustive or conclusive, and I happen to love (and respect) the E55 family. I have no desire to meet up with JakPro1, JodyRocket, or Vrus in their near 700hp beasts...at least not yet (I have a few additional mods coming this year) .
Regards,
Darren

Nice run~i think that E55 needs IC pump badly though~but, losing is losing..then, again, even with IC pump replaced, Stock/Modded M5 would beat stock E55(by 2-3 car length)....Did ur friend downshift in S mode during those runs? it looks like he didnt...once again, great run~

Good runs guys,
Have to agree with OzE55...somethings wrong, no sour grapes or anything.
I've run 4 M5's with my stocker and never lost a race including a 140kmh roll all the way to 250kmh.
No way a M5 can leave a 55 like that unless there was something wrong with it, that even the owner was not aware of it.

Nice to hear from you Darren. Thanks for the Vid.
It's easy to see from your posting history that you're a class act. I wish I could display such character when responding to people. Unfortunately, for some reason I just can't lose the urge to include words like: idiot, diikk, fagg. etc. when my posts are challenged. haha.
Oh well, I do need to take a lesson from you. Do you tutor?

Darren,
I won't have my bone stock E55 here till Thanksgiving (moving from MI), but once I do, I'd love to get in on that action with you guys! I plan on modding in the spring, so we could get some interesting before and after videos for next year!

Rock and rflow306, thank you both for the kind words. Doesn't mean I'm not thinking about some of the words you mentioned Rock Just kidding.
Written messages are easily taken out of context so I'm hyper-sensitive about what I write at times.
BTW, I've made contact with the airport and am waiting to hear back from the Director. Shouldn't cost us much at all and we should be able to get this meet catered nicely.
Stay tuned...(no pun intended).
Cheers,
Darren

You'll always be welcome to join us. There's a great bunch of AMG and M people locally and I can introduce you to some of them (unless you're originally from here, then you'll probably know more people than I do).
Drop me a PM and we'll meet up after your move. An AMG is not a prerequisite in order to attend either.
Regards,
Darren

Ok guys, for me it was a foregone conclusion, I have sat in and driven Darren's M5 and its a beast, with some serious hardcore, hammer in the back of your head gear shifts that will frighten the school girl out of anybody. Now, I know it didn't look very convincing, but with the stock M5's the E55 was not doing too badly until 80mph after which it was a walk.
Anyway, it was great fun hopefully in 6 months when my lease is up and I get a new car the story will be a little different..
Cheers!

Darren:
Please fix your I/C pump and re-race.
If your 'charger cut out at all, ever, you are suffering from a failing unit.
I have no problem dispatching stock (lol) M5's.

J2001,
Thank you very much! Ray definitnely needs to get his pump replaced. I'll speak with him later today and see if he can get the scheduled with his MB dealer in time for our net meet-n-greet.
Good suggestion.
Cheers,
Darren

The post pulley dyno was 450hp and 530tq.
It pulls nicely for a luxo barge.

Why some people cant take the truth about M cars ???
They are very faast easpacially at higher speed !!!
Stock E55 has not chance against modded M5 !!!
Even stock M5 pulls on stock E55 after 120...
Beleive ME guys we've done that some many times...
Mod vs mods if different story...Depends how moded...Any E55 over 600HP, proper runing, wont have any probs with 570-580 M5 from a dig or roll till the speeds get to 170+...
One guy here just lost 5k last week running his stock CLS55 against stock M6 in 1/4...M6 used LC got 1 lenth jump and by the end of 1/4 CLS was at least 3 car behind...
The only M car that I lost before is to 567HP Hamman M6 before, rolling starts, it would pull hard on ME after 140 but I only has ASP pullies, headers and untuned ECU at that time...and still in 1/4 M6 didnt stand any chance...
M5 580 HP and M6 580 HP both spanked chipped 221 S65 here... Even from a dig they pass him at 130-140
