I'm looking at getting an E63 but...
I've been deciding on a E63 since a week after I picked up my SL55. I really wanted the speed but in a 4 seater. My main worry is how well will it fare against next years generation?
More specifically, how well would they do against these...

If you want a 4 seater with speed that can probably be modified for a ton of hp, I'd suggest considering the nissan gt-r. Of course it won't be luxurious like the benz so you gotta decide if it's worth the tradeoff.

A skyline would be ok if I was 5 years younger but I'm going to stick with AMG for now. It's really a tossup between a E63 and a M5. I'm keeping an eye on what '08 brings but there is starting to be a crapload of competition, almost too much to keep track of.

boy, there is really no love for the E63 is there? Just go and test drive one. I love my E63. Just remember that the engine really starts to open up at about 2000 miles.

The E63 would be the best car out there if they got the gearing right ... its just geared too long ... mbe throw in a 3.02 rear end and it will improve things abit .... these cars are not bought for economy .... FFS!!

Am in the same debate as you jeanmarc... i was hell bent on an m5 till a few weeks ago, when I saw the crash test results+ 7 mpg in city driving + smg problems.
Heart was set on the E63.... till I read the RS6 is going to have 550-600hp.
I'm not a big fan of audi cause the cars dont look sporty enough... plus I kind of like the panaroma roof in the E63... on the fence... sigh...

Why not an E55, they are so cheap now ?????
You can always get a 2005 E55 and then RennTech Stage 5 will put you at 600 hp.......
![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
This will make you destroy all the cars you listed at the beginning of the thread.....![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Also, don't get turned off by the M5, it is a great car. Not all of them are having SMG problems, if you take good care of the car and maintain it, you'll be fine. The M5 is super fast after 100 mph, but still doesn't have the low-end superiority of the E55.
As for the E63, it is truly an awsome car. I love every minute of it. I love the exterior looks, the interior, the handling, the feeling, I love everything about the car.....![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I think the best way for you to judge is by actually test-driving all 3 cars again and again: E55, E63, M5.
Good luck, all these cars are awsome, and you will definately enjoy them....

Can someone please post more info about the upcoming RS6? I've been hearing lots of rumors but no good solid info on it. Thank you in advance, very appreciated.
Don't waste your time trying to get a Skyline GT-R. I was #1 and #2 on the list untill I found out they would be going for at least 10k over sticker. I pulled out and now your only chance at getting one is to wait about 6 months after the release date and paying way over sticker. You're better off with a Porsche Turbo at that point. Plus it will be a tight squeeze in the back of that car.
An E63 will fair well against all those cars (except Vette SS/Z07/Blue Devil). A CL600/CL65 is the ultimate 4 seater speed demon. Luxury and monstrous torque.
I'm in the same boat as you buddy
, I got about 6 months before I make my decision so I'm always comparing cars and looking at my options.

I am new here and I find it a little odd that there is so much negative feeling toward the E63. I have a E63 with 6000 miles and I love it. For comparison, I currently have a 2006 911s with the factory hp. upgrade and the E63 just smokes it. I had a 2003 911TT and the old butt dyno says the 63 is faster. I just sold a GT2 with a full EVO stage 4 setup with 518 RWHP and that car WAS faster. Admittedly, I have not driven an E55, but I am sure it is a fast car too. I have owned a M5 and I think the E63 is a better car. I was never a Audi fan so I can't comare this. For a 4 passenger car I would be had to beat the Mercedes.
