ride height issues

I have an issue with the rear ride height being cocked. I fitted new rims and tires a week ago and have noticed that one side was rubbing when going over bumps. I took a measurment from the floor to the top of the wheel arch on both sides and I have about a 1" difference.

I do have the Renntech ELM fitted and that does seem to be working as it should. Adjusting the rear switch setting does change the height on both sides and turning the unit off raises the car back to the stock height on three sides.

I spoke with RT and they suggested a dealer visit to get a recalibration. My dealer is pretty cool but having the ELM maybe an excuse to void warranty.

Has anyone here had a similar problem? RT did suggest that having the suspension extended during the wheel change has likely screwed things up but the car wasn't put up on a four point lift. Each side was raised individually just high enough to get the wheels swapped.

I'm also not sure if the problem hasn't been there for a while. I have gone from 275 to 285's and so there may have been enough clearance beforehand for the rubbing not to occur.

I had the same problem. I also have the Renntech ELM. Making sure the calibration is a good step. I had mine done after the ELM was installed and all I did was turn the ELM off. The dealer recalibrated and set my car to normal height. I then set my ELM to my desired ride height. It came out all even.

You can also use the ELM to even out the ride height by adjusting the front corners to tilt the car to get the rear even. This will takes some time and measuring.

Good luck.

Mine is always just a touch lower on the drivers side rear. I don't know what to do either as there is only one adjustment for the rear because only one sensor that sits in the centre of the rear end. I tried what DSC said about tilting the front to even out the rear and it helps a little but seems to make the car drive on a slight curve.

Just came across this thread after searching for ride height issues...

I am having the same issue with the drivers side being a bit lower than the passenger side...is it best to take it to the dealer and have them do a calibration?

Thanks in advance.

Same here

Mine had a 5mm difference .Lower on passenger side (Right Hand Drive). Did a automatic calibration where the height revert basck to 0mm. Now it looks fine on most days but on some days , i will still notice a slight dip on the passenger side.

Interesting...anyone else have any insight to this? I think I'll just have Mercedes take a look at it..I need them to take care of a couple other little things as well.

CLS55 plus a few Ducati's
Just lowered my new CLS55 with a Renntec module and was told that the cars come with an inbuilt height difference to compensate for road camber. Not sure if true but when I checked my car did have this....drivers side is lower front and rear before the module went in.

+100. Seem like a common problem.

Yes, it is correct; to compensate for the crowning of most roads.

Meee toooo! driver side rear .5 inches lower than passenger side. Just spent $320 for alignment and ride height calibration. Still sitting high on right rear. Drives on rails.
Im thinking of returning to dealer for recalibration. Should I?
