AMG TAXI's
Just came back from a trip in Greece. I thought I would share some thoughts about MB in Greece.
98% of most Taxis in Athens and especially the countryside are MB's. These guys really use these vehicles as they were designed when on the open roads and mountain roads throughout the country. I cannot say enough of how important a solid SAFE vehicle is worth. I had an opportunity to spend quite some time with many of them and they really use these cars. They keep them clean, but they do not pamper and baby them. These guys do not buy aftermarket chrome wheels and low-profile tires. The suspension and handling on these cars is better appreciated when going up or down a treacherous mountain road, with 45-deg. angles.
They all talk about how "solid" the car is. Even the 350 types. And now even the MB "Smart" cars that have entered the market.
I rented a Nissan Note, and boy I think my John Deere had more HP. I have a new found respect for these vehicles, picturing them being used on the German Autobahn or on the icy mountains of Austria, Switzerland, ...
While safety is the last thing on some peoples mind when reading these threads, it will probably be the first thing when you hit the brakes or swirve to avoid the idiot with the cell-phone and coffee in both hands.
Thanks for listening.

Yeah that's a LEMON in the AMG world! NO AMG BODY, NO AMG quad exhaust, wheels, etc...
I would think you would've noticed these things? or most importantly the missing 500 supercharged HP?![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
Hmm.... looks like the TAXI is a poser
funnier still is I could swear it has a E350 badge to the left![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)

SL55 AMG, M5 E60, 2002 S55 AMG, Range Rover Sport Supercharged,
I have a 2002 S55 AMG.
And it certainly looks identical to it. I mean, the yellow taxi has fat old AMG wheels like mine, single exhausts on each side.
Those were the old S55 AMGs before 2003 where it acquired a supercharger and overall new look.
But anyways on topic. Wow. I'm going to Greece! At least taxis there are better than in America...

Only parts that were different were little cutts in rear bumper to accomadate the new quad exhaust (I got that too) and the front bumper/hood/grill/bi-xenon headlights.. I purchased it all... along w/Supercharger...

Nope says E350 has NO AMG BODYKIT, & the N/A 2001-2002 S55 had a 354 bhp engine, The rear bumper is supposed to have cutt-outs, they were on the S600 w220 2001-2002 w/NON-AMG body...

...........I don't mean to tell you what your car looks like, but you are incorrect. Look closely. No one is talking about quad exhausts. Those came in 2003 and up. However pay attention to the bumpers and side panels
........Mercedes Taxi's are actually not unique to Athens. Other places have it. In Jerusalem for example there have been Mercedes Taxis since at least the early 80's. Overall the US has the least appealing Taxi's in the developed world. I have been to countries that Other countries that use Volvo's, Mercedes, Toyota Cressida, etc. No wait, there is this hotel in Hong Kong that picks you up at the at airport in a limo.........the phantom.

Although I believe everyone admits that this S class is non
AMG I would like you to give this pic. The first S55 were
available w/o the AMG kit!! Which I absolutely loved!

...........just for fun; That picture does not look like one of the first S55's. Notice that it has updated tail lights(compare the tail lights to the ones in the yellow cab). With the updated Tail lights, this means that the car is newer and should have the AMG kit if it is an S55. Wrong?
