Just got my new AUTOMOBILE magazine yesterday and read about the new C63AMG. What a beast! Of course, in order to preserve 'branding' hierarchy, benz is de-tuning the 6.2 liter engine for the C-class; I think it will have around 450 hp and about as much tq. BUT ... I'm betting that the primary difference will be in the ECU settings. Maybe the exhaust system will be a bit more restrictive due to the smaller chassis and under-hood clearance. Point is, I would be willing to bet that RennTech and Kleemann will be able to tune this baby beyond the 507-518 hp numbers for the E and the S / CL versions. I think the body style looks killer and I have always been drawn to the slightly smaller more 'nimble' size of the C. Maybe a swap (or an addition to the family if the financial Godz continue to smile on me) will be in order in another year or so after they have had a chance to depreciate a bit??? It said starting base price for the AMG version would be around $65k.

I saw one on the road yesterday (unless they sell an AMG look alike kit for the new C) and it looked great! That's one of the great things about living in S. Florida, it seems like we always get the newest models as soon as they hit the streets. Leaving the office on Las Olas Blvd. yesterday and there was an E63 heading west, an E63 wagon heading east, and the new C63 too...all within seconds of each other

I had a chance to examine a C350 Sport at my dealer's showroom recently and I must admit it is a big step up in terms of engineering, build and design quality compared to the W203 generation.
I can only speculate that if the C63 looks as good in person as it does in the pictures, then Mercedes-Benz AMG will have a real winner on its hands and will be make it a tougher and closer competitor for the E92 M3, especially when the rumoured M3 saloon arrives.
Even in the 'normal' non-AMG guises, the car has received very high praise for its comfort and driving dynamics, even if the latter is still not as sporty as the equivalent E90 3-series.
Though for me, the C-klasse is simply too small for my practical needs to be seriously considered, the C63 sure makes me look forward to the W212 E63 AMG!

1st quarter of next year.
The new C-class has a sport version, but the body kits are no longer the same with AMG and the sport models.
From an exterior pass through you will notice the biggest difference in the rear and front fenders and air vents.
Look for 4 pipes in the back and you will know its the real deal.
I can't wait to read a comparison test here in North America. Most of the articles are based from France (AMG's Official Press release)
