IC Pump again

I no this ic pump thing is getting old to some of you, but i have been reading so much about it, that now I want to get a new one too. My car is a 04, with just 13,000 mi. on it I am sure my pump is ok. My question is, should I try and get one at the dealer, or buy a Johnson pump cm 30 and get a independent shop to put it on? Which one is best to get? What would you do, any advice would be helpful.

If its under warranty and your cars not modded, then just get the stock one replaced for free.If you want a little more insurance, then do the CM30.

I'd like to do a pump change on my SL as well... How much better would the CM60 be... I think the specs say more capicity, and flow, But you have to mod the backet, and electrical connector?

Thanks,

My Johnson is running fine since it's install so I have not studied up on the different models out there now BUT, I can say that having the Johnson on my car without the extra heat exchanger etc still made a big difference in cooling.

My car could dyno quite a few times in a row without much heatsoak as opposed to bout twice without it.

I would find the right Johnson and put er on. Doesn't add hp as much as keeps you running cooler longer/recovers from high r's faster.

Im not familiar with the CM60? If its the CM90 that your speaking of,Its a huge pump that is a pain to install compared to the Cm30's.

I wouldnt go through the trouble of replacing the stock pump unless its either dead already or its on its way out and you can get it covered under warranty. The CM30 is just a very slight improvement over stock. The Cm90 is a monster.

If your pump is still working you will have to wait until failure for MB to replace it under warranty. Just keep your warranty going and wait and see if it fails.

How do you know when its failing or intermittently failing? I understand it doesn't throw a CEL etc?
