New 20's for the E63

Hi, new to the forum and just picked up an E63 a few weeks ago. I thought I'd share some pics of the new Marion Forged 3pc wheels that I just put on my Designo Grey E63. I wanted something "similar" to the stock wheel and didn't want to go all black, so thought this would be a unique look. The wheels are 20x8.5 and 20x10 with 245/30/20 in the front and 285/25/20 in the rear. No problems at all with clearance.

I'm heading over to GMG this week to have Vadim do the Powerchip flash, and we will baseline it first on the dyno so I have some before and after comparisons. The only bummer with the 20's is the effect they have on performance, as the car is noticeably slower. Let's see if the flash will cure this issue, if not, I may swap them out for some lightweight forged 19's.

Scott

You really feel the car is slower with 20's. I have 19's on my car now and plan on getting 20's. Where do yo feel the decrease in power, on take off or on a roll? If your wheels are forged I would think they would be lighter then the stock ones. Does the increase in diameter really decrease speed? If so I'm going to stick with 19's.

I weighed them and here are the results:

Stock with tires: Front/52lbs Rear/53lbs
20" Marion with tires: Front/56lbs Rear/59lbs

The added weight, plus the larger rolling circumference definitely is noticeable, especially on acceleration from a stop. Acceleration from a roll of at least 20mph is not so bad.

yes i agree there is a difference i had 60lb 20" rims and switched to 40lb rim and tire 19s and the car gained something like 20hp on the dyno(actuall number you would have to ask adam i dont remember) but i just love the way 20s look ill loose that 20hp oh well.

Kewl wheels! I too considered these.

Do you have any wheel rubbing issues? I have the same tire sizes in Falkens and my rear tires rub when I hang turns. Do you know what offset you have?

Oh and are you lowered? As I have a renntech elm set on 3/6.

Thanks!

I don't have any rubbing issues at all. Even though my car is not lowered, it doesn't appear that I would have any rubbing issues by lowering it about 1/2-1".

A slow Tahoe!
Add Clear Markers!

Too much brake/dics showing for me, but the color is awesome. Nice ride.
