Best tire PSI for street driving E55/E63

I am at 38 all around was at 40 and even 42 but the tires squeal no matter what PSI i have in them around turns and shifting into gear i hate the Sport contact 2's but is this the nature of these tires?

What PSI are you guys running?

It depends on the tires I run and driving conditions, but I usually sit at 35 all around.

I am 41/45 --That is according to the tire. I have tried other settings, but the one specified by Conti, is the one I will stick with...until the PS2's come on!!

for all you running under 40 and in the low 30's dont you think thats too low? It sure must affect the handling and you must hear even more tire squeal.

Why more? It makes for a larger contact patch and more flex in the ribs. That allows the sidewalls to flex and extend the outer diameter while under power. Haven't you seen all the drag racers? They have low pressure and the cars just stand up when they pin it.

I use tire pressure to balance the car out sometimes. I crank the rears up to about 45 if the car is pushing and it causes the rears to come out sooner.

That's the best compromise and what was recommended to me by CCW for my 19s.

Drag tires and radial tires I think are of a different construction. The side walls of a drag tire (ripple walls) I think are designed to buckle like that, compaired to radial tires which are usually built either segmented or clamshell mold as are designed to flex in a different manner. I also read somewhere that drag tires are screwed into the rim, thats why the vehicles are able to "stand-up". I could be wrong though......

They are screwed into the rim to keep the rim from spinning inside the wheel and breaking the bead, which in turn helps with the traction needed. All the big dogs run bead lock wheels instead of screws.

Bead-lock wheels are a must in a lot of Motor-sports.

MB says to run 36 all around for under 100MPH. I typically run 38 (front) 40 (rear). I'm using Goodyear F1 GS D3's as a compromise tire. The pressure MB recommends for over 100 is too high for my taste. I think it is 44 (front) 49 (rear). No doubt that those pressures are safe for cruising at up to the 186MPH that the 030 is governed to. I get a little squealing when pushing on corners. You may want to try something a tad higher than I am running but i would recommend "staggered" pressures. Good luck.

I run 36 up front with my 245/35/19 Nitto 555 and 30 out back with 275/30/19 Nitto 555 I hook up pretty good with TC on but they still break loose around 35mph. I have been driving around with the TC off to learn more about how the car will react under different situations.

Help me understand...........why have lower air pressure than what is recomended by the tire manufacturer, or MB? I always thought for optimal performance and tire life, follow what the manufacturer says. I do know that lower/higher pressure than what is recomeded can cause serious problems...so am I missing something,,,,,,like to know.!!!

Does anyone notice better ride quality with pressure set in the 35psi range? Versus 40 all the way around.

Because the correct pressure is what gives even tire wear, not what the gas tank door (or MB) says. I also find it beneficial to run lower pressure. Usually 38/35. Too much wear in the center = too much pressure. Although these are not slicks, there is indeed more traction to be had with a lower tire pressure. Even 30-32 PSI should not be a problem around town and at legal freeway speeds. Everyone should experiment with pressures to see how the car reacts and how wear is affected. I think you'd be surprised. I've never understood the recommended pressures as the car is definitely nose heavy. More weight requires a higher pressure, so try higher pressure up front.
