E55 due Summer 2003 -- According to my Dealer who is a "Factory Dealer
My dealer (Manahattan MB -- A factory store) said to expect the E55 in Summer 2003 -- He also said that because the E55 is produced in larger quantities and is seen as the most relevant showroom draw for MB's biggest sellers -- the E500 and E320 -- that the increase will NOT be as large as between the CL55/S55 of old and the new supercharged ones.
He said expect a $3-4k incease but with more standard features than before so there would be actually less of an increase on a direct comparison basis.
I am Number 3 on the list -- can't wait.

very nice considering what clowns all over hte world are paying for it. SOme clowns down under consider this car a bargain at well over $80k. Apparently MB is prepared to f..ck aussies and the rests of the world but in the US they can oonly beg for slightly more money for a much better car than the ougoing w210.

Hey Kev, while most of us here may be 'fervent' about the new E55, the buzz will die down quickly...6-9 months will sate most of the high demand from within the market.
Checked on the SL55 situation with a broker in my area and he said most of the people who are really hot for a limited edition MB (AMG's in particular) will make their move or sit back in less than a year.
Proved to be true with the CLK55 and CL55 in my area last time around.

The E55 came 1999 and in 2001 my local dealer still tried to gouge a $10,000 markup on E55's in stock. Stealership!
If 'W' keeps messing up the economy and gets an Irag war the cars will be highly discounted (maybe).
