Got Rear-Ended at Dealer Today

I feel totally violated after paying $779 for Service B and a "Brake Flush" at the local stealer. $468 of it was labor charges They had my car for 5 hours total, including a couple of hours sitting in the blazing sun before I could pick it up. That was some fat ticket the SA wrote, they were prolly hi-fiving in the back.
Would you believe they had the sac to quote $23 to replace the dead batteries in my Key Fob?

Who provides such remarkable service?
I'm sure they'd like to be mentioned for their fine work.

You think that is bad? I had a close friend who drives a C230k 2005 take his car in for a 13k mile B service. The service writer wrote him up for an $1,100 B service. He lied and claimed that MB requires a Brake flush, a power steering service, a coolant flush, a fuel system cleaning and a 4 wheel balance at the B service. I had to go in with him and tell the service writer to stick it where the sun does not shine. He agreed that a B service requires ONLY an oil change and a bunch of inspections and should cost 350 or less on a C230. So thats what my friend ended up paying.

And on top of that they claimed the 13k mile old C230 needed $1,400 worth of new brakes. So I had the car dropped off at MB of Encino and my friend (shop foreman) said the front pads were at 30% and the rears were at 75-80% (rotors in spec). So at most it needed front pads but they can go another 3k miles likely. So WI Simonson in Santa Monica is going to have a serious issue on their hands once we finish drafting letters.

People need to be careful what dealerships do. If you are not a car savvy person they just rake you over the coals. Anyone in that LA area should stay away from WI Simonson for sure.

I think the BEST part of it all was that WI Simonson tried to charge him for a 4 wheel balance when the car was riding on the spare due to a bad run in with a curb. The wheel was dented and tire was blown out. Pretty hard to balance 4 wheels where there are only 3!

Hope this makes you feel a bit better about your experience.

My service was 95.00 @ MB Downtown LA, this was minus the oil change, I had it done with superior oil to Mobil 1. so the falsh, service A was 95.00 , they seemed really great and did not wish to do anything more than the service required by manufacturer/

When the 55 went in for the latest problem of a CD changer stuck in the dash and not ejecting, Silver Star helpfully changed the batteries in my remote because of the dash message and charged $28.00. I sucked it up since it was already done, but told the SA they should start buying the batteries at Target for $3.00 ea. instead of the "Mercedes Benz" packaged CR2025's. He was embarrased.

my dealer has replaced the batteries for free as part of the warranty....

I would complain about that one.

All the dealers do a "flush" service to take your money and its really not needed unless you feel the car is not working performing correctly.

Make sure you have no warranty issues as well.

They absolutely CANNOT cause you any warranty problems for doing your own service. As long as the specs of the oil match, they're out of luck.

I was hoping that title would draw a little attention. If my baby was really damaged there, CSI Orlando would be all over my ***.

I haven't had my car on a drag strip since that nice chilly day in Gainesville.
I am still amazed at how effortlessly you ran mid 11's in the SL.
Maybe another track rental is in order?

I think so

I think that may be a good idea, i haven't been to the track in quite some time. Did you ever do any modifications to your car?

Don't forget to SAVE your reciepts!!

I have friend that does ALL his own work, and races his M3. Low and behold first time for warrenty work on the engine, they questioned his oil changes as they had no reocrd. Well one month later, with NO receipt, they told him forget it.

FYI

See yeah

And save receipts for the oil filter as well
