Installed Johnson cm30 yesterday.

My '06' has always seemed to run inconsistantly. A beast most of the time but not up to expectations at others. With all the talk on here about IC pump failure I decided to swap mine out for the Johnson since it was an inexpensive and easy mod to do.

The swap itself is pretty straight forward and easy. Took less than an hour.

I bench tested the factory pump and it seems to work OK but I have no way of knowing if I was experiencing an intermitent failure. I'll hang on to it just in case.

The results of the swap at this point are not conclusive and I can't say the car runs any different than before. I haven't had the chance to take it out and run it hard repeatedly.

I do suspect that like any fast car, you get used to the power quickly if you drive it every day. I think this may have been part of my "problem". I just got used to it so it didn't seem as fast. However, as soon as I get a chance, I'll make some back to back hard runs and report back.

Please do as I am in the same boat as you. I have no problem with mine but I bought the new Johnson M30 and will hve it installed over the weekend (I hope). This will put to bed once and for all the exuse that my IC Pump is causing issues with my track results.

Did you follow the instructions on the thread by Vadim.......

Thanks

The installation is very straight forward and easy. I think I read every post about IC pump failure and installation before taking the plunge so I'm sure I read Vadim's. I chose to do it myself since a trip to the dealer is a PITA and I didn't want to bother trying to convince my SA to make the swap under warranty.

I'm still somewhat convinced that I just got used to the power...not that it was falling off. A trip to the track will tell.

I would say if you have stock car.. the pump is really not necessary.

if add a pulley, changing the pump is probably the next step.

I can tell you that I ran the ASP pulley with stock pump for 6 months.. I knew I was loosing power since at times the engine felt sluggish.

The JP30 made a difference.. power is more constant and boost is available almost all the time. But it does not complete cure the problem. I really need a bigger IC core.

just my observations..

MB Palm Beach is where I go and if it weren't for AMG I'd drive something else just to avoid the service department there. I think the people try hard but can't possibly handle the volume of cars they service. For the life of me I cannot understand why MB would put their reputation at risk by limiting the number of dealers.

After doing my little flow tests,Im one that says theres little difference.I would use one over stock, but only after my stocker broke. On a stock car of course.
