03-mid 05 had paddle shifters via 2 pin connector on the clock spring behind the steering wheel. The car shifts when resistance changes between paddles.
later cars have a steering wheel control module as pictured. Earlier cars do not have this. That control module takes signals from the LIN BUS network. Paddle shifting is also transmitted via the LIN BUS network. Earlier cars the 2 pin connector is wired directly to the shift knob and transmission module.
I doubt it will work with earlier e class cars even with a new airbag. the steering wheel controls will work fine.
I did manage to make a newer aluminum paddle shifting steering wheel work on a earlier sl55 car but I had to make my own circuit.

Ive read a few thread about even the MP wheels being hard to get working, this is the reasoning?

yes i agree but i think they are modding this wheel to work with older year cars, and that will cost. if not you can buy the same wheel on e-bay for 800 bucks, and i belive but dont quote me the new air bag retails for 700 so total 1500. but no one pays retail so realy cheaper.
so if you have 06 or up you are good but i think 05 you need their mods. not realy sure this whole thread has me all twisted!

110 Motoring, I have an 05 wagon and am interested in your wheel. Can you tell me how far or close your shop is to the Long Beach Airport? If close, I might just drive to your shop and purchase the wheel, so you can install.

The only world I've got is not from the factory, however...110 can work some magic and upholster it to any color and/or any material of your choice, we're actually working on potentially making one with carbon fibre details as well as sueded...etc...
