Agreed. That's why I'm reluctant to move forward with this.
Approximately $800-$900 for the wheel and another $1600 for labor? I'm not sure that seems fair. I'm not fully aware of how to swap steering wheels, but one member claimed to complete this job in less than 30 minutes. Perhaps there's a specialty tool needed? Even so, it doesn't justify the labor costs.

there is no speciality tool required. You need a torx t27 bit to unscrew the airbag and a 10mm hex socket to undo the bolt in the center of the wheel. It takes about 20 minutes if your are slow.

We are a full service automotive type conceirge and what we are offering is not just a steering wheel. At 2am if you get a flat tire, we will come help you. If you have any issue at all with your vehicle, we will help you. Especially if you have aftermarket goodies on your car that dealerships won't touch we can help you, whether we installed them, or not. Also, if you have warranty issues we can help you.

We are extremely familiar with these cars and the steering wheel retails from Mercedes for over $3000 and then you still have to wait to have it shipped... We have them in stock.

Thanks,

Thanks,
Its good to have more shops ans ponsors here on the forums, and yes the wheel from your local MB dealer is pricey, but we still dont know if the 03,04 and early 05's will work or not.Im going to say no,atleast from what some of the orhers have found out here.

On top of that you can get thee wheels off Ebay for $779.00 ,and they are the true thing.

They obviously do not. Everyone knew they work on the '06. We also know that you'd have to do modifications to get it to work on older models. This guy has no details on mods and seems to be confused on what the concern is, so I'll go ahead and assume it is a straight OEM part.

I'll have to find out on my own, since my car is middle datish 05,if not early 05.

Not hard to pull the air bag off and take a look,Sunil has already confirmed that.

From what i remember the parts were fazed in as a package, so if you don't have the butterfly arm rest you should be okay. And yes, you can simply open it up and take a peek. It takes less than 5 minutes to just loosen two bolts and take the airbag off and look.

let me save you the trouble, I have an early 05, in fact production date 09/04, I just got my wheel and airbag from Jeff @ 110 motoring and rest assured it is a total plug and play, it took me 5 minutes for the whole job, 3 plugs off the clockspring, green & yellow plugs go into airbag, then the other plug goes on the 2nd from bottom on distribution block, the middle plug on distribution block plugs into top plug on airbag and that's it, simple, maybe you can get it off ebay but Jeff gave me a money back gaurantee, he said if it doesn't work send it back and I'll refund your money, this to me was the deal maker, Jeff gave me a good deal and took away the risk if it didn't work, so again for everyone to be assured 05's definately work, even my early production date 05, all function buttons, paddles work perfect, I couldn't be happier, thanks Jeff and 110 motoring, here are some pics

That is great news. I'm still on the fence due to the price, but this may be my next upgrade. So I'm assuming they do their magic on the wiring before they ship the wheel so that it is plug-and-play into an 05?

Hey thanks for the info,I didnt see this post until now.

Actually you dont have an early production dated car,you have the newer style arm rest in the center console. So I still dont think this wheel will work on the 03 to early 05 built cars.

You guys that think $900 for a steering wheel is a lot of money need to check your finances. If you have ever priced an AMG steering wheel(and I mean a real deal, not an internet knock-off Rolex clone) it is at least $1500. A Black Series wheel could easily fetch $2500 from AMG. Remember, you didn't buy a Honda Civic SI.

Very true. The Black series wheel from the dealer is over 2k,thats why the ones on ebay are such a great deal. And yes,the Black series wheel is the real deal.

the production date on my car is 09/04, I figured this to be early 05 production but I had the sliding armrest so I took a chance, I gotta say after a week of driving it with this wheel I love it

Which member here said $900 was a lot of money for a steering wheel? As a matter of fact, that's a bargain for this wheel. What some of us are trying to figure out is how to justify paying an additional $1600 for labor to mount the wheel when the job takes less than 30 minutes to complete (especially for '06 and '07 models).

Again I must ask, who was complaining that $900 was too much?

If you have an E55 you still have to buy the airbag as well.

So we are looking at 2500+800 if purchasing through 101.

The seller on ebay is listing the same wheel for 800+500 for the airbag.

That is a huge difference. It can be somewhat justified if 101 is actually performing some custom electrical work to make it work but it doesn't seem to be necessary on late model 05s or 06 E55s based on information in this thread.

Sorry, meant $2500. Too many martinis.

And I just meant that I feel that $900 wheel is probably like a $500 Rolex, something just doesn't seem right about it. "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is." I guess I would rather spend a bit more and know I was putting a real deal on my real car.
