RE050A vs. Pzero Rosso vs. Yoko Advan Sport
Guys,
I just posted this in the tires/wheels forum, but figured I would get more responses here.....
I need all the opinions I can get. I'm about to order tires for my 19x9, 19x11 iforged daytonas for the SL55. I'm looking at 255/35-19 front and 305/30-19 rear.
At tirerack, three choices came up. Bridgestone RE050A, Pirellie Pzero Rosso, and Yokohama Advan Sport.
Personally, I have had Bridgestone S03s, RE040s, PS2s, Pirelli Pzeros, Goodyear f1 GSD3, and Contis. Out of all these, I hated the contis. I had the best experience with the PS2s and SO3s. S03s were better in the rain. GSD3 provided great traction too. The pirellis wore out pretty fast.
FYI, I have Pirelli pzero on my stock 18s.
So, out of the 3 tires from tirerack, which would you guys choose and why?

Just got my Evo magazine today and they had an article on a comprehensive tire test. Haven't read it but the Bridgestone rated very well - surprisingly they preferred it to the PS2. Again, haven't read it so don't hold me to it.
I'll read it tonight and post the results from the different tests if you'd like.
I think the overall winner was the goodyear F1

If you want TRACTION, the Brigestone 050 PP's are unbilievable
![naughty](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/naughty.gif)
I have them, I track them and would recomend them to everyone. Just keep in mind that they are only a 140 treadware, so don't expect them to last forever.
I am surprised that you say the S03's were better in the rain than the Goodyear GS-D3's, as they were by FAR my best rain tire ever. Heck, I even raced on Nelson Ledges with GS-D3's in the rain with my blown stang.
Anyway, If traction is the game, get the PP's and I can assure you you won't be disapointed

I checked to see if Goodyear F1 makes tires in 305/30-19 and it doesn't.
I'm leaning towards the Bridgestone RE050As over the Prirelli and Yokos.....

With all due respect the results above are meaningless unless you own a Golf GTi.
The E and SL weigh considerably more AND the Golf is front wheel drive!
Go with the opinions from real world experience.

Evo's reason for using the VW: "The GTI was the natural choice. It has a superb chassis, offering fine steering, crisp responses and great poise, plus a torque-laden, traction-testing engine delivery, making it an ideal platform for showing up differences, especially in the subjective tests"

Real life on a heavy car, the Goodyear F1 GS-D3's were incredibly noisy and unimpressive. I ditched them with 50% of the tread remaining because they were so loud. I have also run Michelin Pilot Sports, RE050 A's, Conti Sports 2's, and many others. So far, I'd rate the RE050 A's the best all around for wear, price, hydroplane resistance, and low road noise. It may not be the best for total grip but 99.99999% of the drivers will not be able to to, subjectively, tell the difference.

Hey, I was asked to post it and I did. I didn't run the test. If you're doing a tire test I guess you're going to have to pick a car - can't use everything. Regardless of the car used, the characteristics of the tire should be similiar.

I just wanted to warn those who are perhaps less informed that the results should be viewed with caution.

No, they are not the pole positions. The RE050A pole positions do not come in the sizes im looking for. I know, I wanted those too!
Oh well, I'll let you know how these turn out anyways....hopefully great!
