Super Charger Replaced. Initial Thoughts....

Under warranty, I was able to get my supercharger assembly replaced to fix the pesky chirping that I was recently experiencing. I had a great experience at the MB dealership. They went to bat for me and did an outstanding job in replacing the SC assembley which includes the supercharger, clutch and pully. I was totally impressed with the tech and SA during this process. I also had Maint. B done which will be my last freebie. They also took care of a bunch of little things also. Did you know there is a wheel well campaign where they fix the drain plug or something??

The end result:
NO MORE CHIRPING and VERY SMOOTH SC ENGAGEMENT...........................

I realize that the sneaky ECU reset was done at the dealership via the disconnection of the battery terminal but holy ****, there is a noticeable increase in power. I will be taking it to the track next Wednesday to document actual gains via trap MPH's. I feel very fortunate to have this replaced while I was under warranty.

Guess what...........The max IAT's with back to back to back WOT's was 109. Absulutely no IC PUMP PROBLEM. I bought the Johnson CM 30 thinking it would be bad so I will have a spare just in case. It sucks the track season is coming to a close. There are only 4 weeks left so I will try to make it out each week for the next four weeks. Hopefully that will get me through the Winter doledrums.

So, I will post my track results with the new supercharger assembley. Hoping to get to 11.75 to 11.85 with an improved launch and SC.

Replaced all that with your mods? Very cool. Make sure to note if/when the chirp comes back.

higginsbeach,

You got this done under factory warranty? also, where are you located?

I am gong to talk to my service rep today about the chirping for my 03' e55 ... seems to be getting worse .. unfortunately, my factory warranty expired 2 weeks ago

I have the mercury platinum ext warranty .. but would rather not use them yet, if i can get my dealer to somehow do it .. not likely though

Mine is in today for service C and the dreaded chirp. SA looked at me funny, so I told him to check with the tech and his boss that many of the mb world members were getting the upgraded '06 clutch packs UNDER WARRANTY to eliminate this issue and that it was well known on these cars. He said he would check into it. Fortunately, I bought the extended warranty from MB, so I should have no problems.

This is my first time using Park Place motors in Dallas, so I'll post feedback when it's over. So far so good.....

Don't be surprised if they replace the supercharger clutch assembly........My tech called the TA and got them to approve the assembly replacement. Good luck to you. I would suggest to anyone who is thinking of making a claim for this to get to know your technician. He is the one who will go to bat for you.

Same Issue Here

Anyone here in the SF Bay Area had this done by their friendly dealer under warranty?

Congrats to you my man..............

Its simply a one day job. I believe its 4.5 hours to install an entire SC so the clutch should be an hour or so. BrianS just did it recently in barely an hour or so.

Glad to hear the great news.

Am glad I read this. I told my dealer about this issue and directed them to these forums. They have ordered what they call an updated clutch assembly kit for my supercharger and hopefully will be putting it in tomorrow.

Thanks for the heads up fellas.

You will not believe the difference. It accelerates so nicely from a stop now I have to mash the throttle to remember I'm driving my beast! No chirp, no jerk, no nothing. Just nice smooth power delivery.

That's what I like to hear...although it seems from what I have read that the chirp comes back after about 2K miles.

7500miles on my 06 and never had a SC chirp - guess these 06 clutch packs are ok...

BTW For them to replace the entire S/C under warranty for chirp is a step beyond duty I would say ... hats off to the dealer !!!

Higginsbeach,
You run last night? I know it was hotter than hell and humid (at least for NH - 91 degrees) but I'm curious if you ran it and saw any improvement -

PS will somebody tell me when I stop being a "newbie"?

Most forums have a set number of posts before they remove the newbie status. I would guess 30 posts will move you to the next category.

Got mine back today as well. They replaced the clutch assembly system. SA said it would have cost $1100.00 retail price if not under warranty.

Car is MUCH smoother from a start now...so I think it helps.

Please post your service repair slips for the chirp repair. I am working with my dealer now on this and I do not think they know of a fix. I want to show them what other dealers have said about it and what they did to fix it. Please help. I have copied the first one already but want 3-4 for back up.

Thank you for all your help.

Hey guys i live in central jersey, and was planning on doing some work to my car. A renntech crank shaft pulley, evotech ecu, and evotech IC pump upgrade. Should i be worried about voiding my warrantee? I take my car to millenium mercedes or ray catena if anyone has any experience with those dealerships let me know please.
