Tire pressure monitors

My E55 wagon has the Tire pressure monitoring system. I just bought another set of wheels (matching AMG wheels) with drag radials, but they do NOT have the tire pressure sensors.

What happens when I put them on the car? I don't care if it doesn't monitor while I'm drag racing, but will it throw codes? Limp mode?

I believe it will show a code. I'd just buy 4 sensors for the spare set. They are about 90 per wheel from what I'm told. I haven't priced them yet.

I can live with the code as long as it doesn't go into limp mode. I got the wheels/tires (thanks Rocket!) and they're fantastic.

I just need to find a Wed or Fri where it isn't raining. It's rained every open track day for a month!

You'll be fine, the dash will show a warning message in red,but you can just scroll through it.No problems.

So I have some wheels coming too, Brabus Monoblock VIs. They should be here tomorrow, can I take the sensors out of the stock AMG wheels and use them? Any other info would be good, I was doing some searching and this is a reasonably new thread on the topic. Thanks!

the boys at tire rack can hook you up with the sensors... worth more than chewing up a wheel cause you didnt know you were low...

walked out after getting back from a trip this sunday at the airport.. pulled the car out of the parking lot and bang! the low pressure tire sensor came on..worth the cost of the sensors to save my wheel...

I had a flat during the summer.. (without sensors) ... destroyed my rear PS2 .. if I had had the sensor and known I was low.. might have gotten away with a plug.

plus.. hated the "1 Message" note in the dash.
