K40 Laser
I have heard here on this forum that the K40 laser detector has issues. Paying for speeding tickets is great but the problem is getting a ticket that creates and insurance increase.
Sort of a challenge to you: Can you furnish some documentation that proves its value? thanks,

This installation is usually sold for $2200 which includes a full custom install with the LED's build into the gauge cluster (behind the glass). I will post a video and pictures tomorrow.
This install is for the new upgraded laser diffuser system. The vehicle that I will post the pic's and vid's of, has the MBZ factory bluetooth which does not and has not interfered with the K40 Calibre radar unit.
We are willing to do a group buy and depending on how many units to be sold/installed will determine the price.
Thanks for the interest, and if possible could you post reply links to the threads about the problems.
Thanks again,

Please don't take this the wrong way. But while the price is good, it's not great. These can be had, brand new, on ebay for about $700-800. And that includes front and rear radar plus front laser defuser, and two LEDs.
For instance:
Calibre on Ebay
I had my K40 installed by a certified K40 dealer (Hurley Audio) in Virginia for 400.00
Not trying to knock ya, but the price would need to be dropped to make it a GREAT deal.
Now, yours could be a totally different item and I'm way off base here. And if so, sorry about that.

It's not always, How much it cost but from whom are you buying from. You can get one real cheap on the street and install it youself but the job would not be the same. Just my .02 I want one

Seems like an OK deal...
I'm having the same setup (front/rear radar, front laser diffuser, blue tooth connection, and two led's) for $1875 out the door (tax included).
The only caveat about getting the K40 installed is that my installer stated that if you car has distronic that it would not be "compatible." Evidently, there is some interference between the 2 systems.

Very interesting response to the thread, haha
I like jangy's mindset and this is 1000 times better than the V1 (product, install, function, user-interface...)
AMGfan, I was curious where they said they were going to put the LED's?
Benz-O-Rama, The one on ebay is the old version and I was also wondering where they were going to put your LED's.
Thanks for the responses!
Jeff
rarfinancial, please give me a call if your interested!

I already have had it done. For about a year now, and you're right, I think it's better than the V1. They're probably just about the same performance wise, but the install on the K40 is killer. They put the both the front and rear LEDs in my instrument cluster. The whole install was 400.00
What is different from your model than the one I referenced on ebay?

Hey,
The difference is that even though the ebay seller says the diffuser is an ex, the picture that he shows is not of an ex box...
The ex is the new unit that works ten times better

Because I am lazy (and busy), I buy my K40s installed for $1600 (2 x radar and 1 x laser). I am now upgrading the laser to the latest Binder.
K40s are available on eBay for $6 to 800 and the installation is very simple. Even a caveman could do it!![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
By the way, I have a solution for the Distronic issue.
In Virginia, K40 Calibre is a must!

K1 vs valentine
I had a great test in my2003 m5, I had the same path to work and ran 3 months on k40 followed by V1 months later. The V1 was fantastic! k40 not as good. Just one "real world analysis".
v1's are good
