*** VRP Crank Pulley ***

Here is a sneak peek at the new 2-piece crank pulley that was created.

This is the first one that was used to do testing with so please excuse the scratches and marks on it...

Working out the landed costs to see what I can do for final pricing.

Updates to follow soon...

...........first of all, let me say good job! The thing about these pullies is that everybody has one for the AMGV8K application. My point is that I wonder if your pulley weighs any less than the ones that are already out. If not, you may wish to seriously consider using very very light weight material to create your own niche in the pulley market, so that it is not just another pulley. Since a smaller s/c pulley is not practical in these cars, a LIGHT WEIGHT, LARGER AND HARMONICALLY BALANCE PULLEY will sell. I can see people replacing their pulleys with one just like that. If your pulley is yet just another larger pulley, why should anyone buy yours? Something to consider

Ted.. Thanks for the input.. I appreciate it..

I had the same mindset.. make the pulley as light as possible... The engineers and people that work to create these say that they need to weigh a certain amount in order to be efficient at doing their job.

The reason behind using this type of pulley is the design process and what it provides. Price point will be in the $1,200 range but I'll know more once I've calculated landed cost.

They will be available separately, packaged with a tune, or packaged with belt wrap + tune.

Vic,

I think someone on ebay was using a pic of your car in their ad to sell an E55.

The parts look good! How will these compare to the other tuners out there and what kind of gains you thinking these will make?

Good Luck!!!

$1200 is not bad... for a complete new pulley.. not a welded pulley and ring like our ASP's.

If you somehow are able to keep a good profit margin and compete vs the ASP product.. in terms of price..

I would be all over that if it wasnt 1200. Imagine this at 600. You'd own the market and sell dozens, and for sure cover development and production costs (this couldnt have taken much to make, the idea and design is a SIMPLE concept). But at the 1200 price tag, people are going to look elsewhere. Sometimes small margins with a high volume of sales will make you more money than high margins with low sales.

I think $1200 is very reasonable if this is a quality product, which it appears to be.

Are you familiar with MB aftermarket parts? People sell USED,Renntech and Kleemann pulleys for $1000-1200 in here sometimes.

$1200 is more than the $800.00 ASP but look at the quality difference!

What is the damping method used ? Also is the damping / harmonic setup independant of the ring size used ?

Is there a picture of the unit apart ?

EDIT: What are the two points where it seems bolts are suppossed to be are these pins to take the strain off the bolts?

I think VRUS nailed the price point. True, it is more than the ASP, but this is part of taking the E55s to another level.

Who would be the partner for the SW tune in a package? Pulley and tune for around $2K would be a great deal with many sales I believe. I'd get it.

How do you take it off? Did you design a new tool for holding it stationary?

What kind of testing for a new pulley needs to be done to ensure of its proper design and balancing? I really like the way it looks, but this would be the first version of this particular item as well. How long has it been on a 55K engine and with what results? TIA

Nice job Vrus!!!

I was upset with myself in buying the Kleemann TB kit over Victor's VRUS TB kit. VRUS products are high quality and yield RESULTS!!! At $1,200 for this pulley it's a great price!

Like another said, if you could put together a tune and pulley package for $2,000 - $2,300 it would be a pretty hot seller.

Good luck man.

The pulley will make gains equal or greater to the ASP because it is sized similarly. The dampening on this pulley is superior but I am not sure if that equates to any more power compared to another pulley of the same size.

Also, this pulley is made from scratch. It is not using an OEM balancer with an outer ring that is pressed or welded like most of the others out there..

I wish I could do better... Once volume goes up, I can lower the prices even more..

A crank pulley IS a simple concept, but it doesnt mean it's easy to do. For now the $1200 range is the best I can offer. Don't forget, these were just created and all the costs and engineering time are all worked into these first 20 pieces that were made.

Once the volume goes up on the orders, I will be able to provide a sub $1,000 pulley.

Thanks! I am very happy with the outcome of this project.

I'll post some more tech details in a bit.. The dampening is independent of the outer ring so the outside diameter can change without affecting the dampening.

We made a special tool for this purpose which will be sold along with the pulley.

To install remove onto the crank you do the following:

- remove 10 hex bolts
- insert special tool
- insert pulley onto crankshaft and torque main bolt
- remove special tool
- insert outer ring and retighten 10 bolts.
