I see that everyone's saying they are better than the PS2s...how are they better other than the price? Better traction? Better wear? Lesser road noise?

I had PS2s before and thought that they were pretty good. Decent traction with less road noise than S-03s. Never had T1rs before.

my toyo t1r's are much better than the ps2's i had before them and the t1r's are almost half the price.
+1. I love my T1Rs

in straight line acceleration, the advantage goes to t1r's. i've had both up to 150ish and there was no difference that i could feel in high speed stability. my t1r's were also more quiet than my ps2's.

What tire pressures are you guys running? I'm curious what I should set mine to on Conti's 275 in the rear. 35psi when the tires are warm???

the contis should be at zero...meaning off the car in a dump somewhere.

other than that, i'm no help with the contis.

So Chiro - Have you had both the T1R's and the PS2's on your car? I am looking at new rear rubber for the upcoming track rental and can probably put 4 T1R tires on my E for the cost of new rear PS2's.

keep in mind the t1r's are toyo's street tire. the r888's are toyo's new race compound tire that replaced the r1a's. i've only barely been able to beat my best 60' time on the t1r's (1.71) with d/r's (1.70) so i feel no need to run race compounds on the street.

yes i've run them both and personally prefer the t1r's. people that autox may have different opinions but that's not my e55's game. in my experience, the t1r's outperform the ps2's in straight line acceleration, which is the main criteria i wanted met. i am curious about the new bridgestones though.

Thanks. How are they for lateral bite, road feel and noise compared to the PS2?

One of the things I love about my PS2's, next to the Contis, is how great they feel throwing the car into an "s" turn. Real feedback from the tires, quick turn-in and precision. The Conti's felt like I was driving over carpeted roads by comparison. Do the Toyo's give you the same handling feel? Sorry to be a pita, but I don't know anyone else who has had both on their cars and I don't want to sacrifice that "handling feeling" to pick up 0.1 in my 60' time.

Thanks.

i've never been one to pretend that my e55 was a sports car so i don't push it to it's cornering limits. in my limited experience, i have found that the sidewall seemed to be a tad soft compared to the ps2's. i've played with inflation and found that they seem to like a bit higher psi which appears to have cured that initial sidewall roll. what i've also noticed is that on the very edge of highspeed cornering they are informative. i've had tires that you don't know how much grip you have left until you have none! the t1r's don't squeel as much as others do but they do tell you when you're at that edge.

i wish i could say that i've hammered these around an autox corse and give you some real info but i can't...

I still appreciate the insight. Thanks, Chiro.

what size rims are you using? the T1rs are good but if you have a smaller size rim there are plenty better than the toyos. if you have 20" rims i dont know if there is better that the t1rs. im gonna try the bridgestones only cuzz my 19"RE01Rs were so good. RE01Rs are what i would recomend if they make your size.
