Our Beast vs. Shelby GT500KR

Clones: I had a recent conversation with a Ford enthusiast who claims the Shelby "King of the Road" will beat us. I can't find any 0-60 or other specs on the Shelby.

Any of you have the informational ammo I need to continue my much-needed feelings of superiority to any US made product?

And of you ever run against a Shelby product?

I'm sitting in a hospital with my 15 yr old daughter; we just learned she has leukemia; she is a huge fan of the Beast; she's been my advocate when defending my car-needs to my wife. Anyway, I might bring my girl to the 11/12 track run for fun and she and I are enjoying talking cars while in the hospital. She claims I am obsessive/compulsive about my car. Yea, and.....so what?

Thanks

KK,

I can't imagine what you and your family must be experiencing. My prayers go out to you.

FWIW, the cars run close at the track, although I've not lined up against one yet. Driver's race for sure, with the nod to the Benz if ESP is left on.

Sorry to hear about your daughter, my prayers are with you.

The two cars' performances (when stock) are close, but how do you know he didn't modify it?

My Pops just dropped a bomb on me a month ago and told me he has prostate cancer. I know it isn't as severe but nonetheless I was totally wreaked. His positive attitude has really made me feel at ease. My prayers are with your daughter and family.

Best wishes to your family, my prayers are with you.

On the street from low speeds/standing start or on the strip you will take one (EZ). They are too tough to launch and somewhat tough to drive/speed-shift (I find the E's automatic to be an advantage in every race I have been involved in - Vipers, Gallardo's 911 TT's, M5's, GTO's, Firehawks, Cobra's)...

From a 80 MPH roll it will be really close...

You got prayer support from your brothers on the West Coast Kris!!!

You hang tough!!

The 2008 Shelby (if that's the one you are talkin bout) would be a rough one. 550hp with 3.73gears....ouch!!

That might have to be a modded E55's job on that one.

If you ever wanted to give it the ole college try, you would need drag radials FOR SURE and hope for him to snag wheel spin like a lot of the Z06's get.

You ever need to vent and blow off some steam (been down the serious health issue road with my wife myself) ...we're here for ya.

Kris, My prayers go out to you and your family.

I have some good news. On Sept.19th I lined up against a 500HP Shelby GT500 at Englishtown. It was red with white stripes. I ran a
12.762 to his 12.956 .....his trap was a bit higher but I had the better 60' time.

Kris,

My prayers go out to your daughter. I'm very sorry.

Regarding the Shelby, you have to watch out for that car. They're usually mod'd and run low 10's easily. Being a Cobra owner I know what they can do.

Here's a few videos of modified GT500's, not the special KR edition...
