Plans to make that hood are still on the table. Other projects have taken priority but it's still open. It just depends on how much serious interest there would be for a hood for the W211. Mercedes has a way of over-engineering a lot of things, so it can be a complicated piece to make keeping all the stock mounting hardware, grill, sensors, wiring, etc. in place.

what changed in 06 that dosent allow the steering wheel's buttons and paddles to work on earlier E55's?

its been a while since i sat in a 06 so i cant remember if the steering wheel was different.

is it just the harness? can some nifty splicing get it to work?

Yes the wiring harness is different. No idea how much effort it would take to make it work on older cars or if it's just cost prohibitive.

Simon,

On a somewhat unrelated note, i am very excited to get my headers, throttle bodies, intercooling package and wiring from you guys via Troy at Group 5. i love the rotors, and really feel these mods will be the nice finishing touch. Im the guy with the Silver e55 that just posted about my new HREs...

They speak highly of you and obviously so because when I asked about these kinds of mods, they directed me straight to Evosport. Just waiting on the headers to be done and shipped to Group 5, and then we are all set. Thanks Simon!

My First Mrecedes, 2006 E55 AMG

Wow, love this site!
Selling my 2000 Porsche 911 and acquired an '06 E55 AMG for a SWEET price!
I do not like the wheels and need some advice.
If I go with 20's what can the offset be and what size shoes?
Can the wheels be staggered? Specs?
or
Are 19's a better choice since I can have a little more rubber between the rim and the street. It is a daily driver....
How much of a offset/stagger can I have with the 19's?

Anyone have more pictures w/ black wheels...blk/chrome staggered...
chrome wheels staggered.
Thanks for the help.
Lovin' it!

'06 E55 AMG Evosport project car. 2nd Owner
Wow, so I guess I'm second owner of this car. I just purchased it today for a price that was fair to me, all things considered.

Glad to be a member of the community.

Beautiful car. The almost perfect AMG W211! It'd be perfect if it was a wagon!

Simon,

Would you please explain why you have more than a crankshaft pulley in your upgrades and what the benefits are from having the underdrive and alternator pullies...
I am just trying to learn as much as I can about your different stages and differences between other applications.

TIA>

Warren- was good chatting with you over the phone. Just to recap for everyone's benefit, the UD pulleys are something we include in our evo1 kit. They are not necessary, but they are a nice upgrade. In fact, our Mercedes-Benz UD pulleys are the best-selling mod in the world for the 3-valve motors.

There are a couple other pulleys we include in the evo1 kit that mitigate belt slip and belt walking. We know just about every tuner has experienced belts shredding on these cars because the clutch engagement is pretty violent on the Kompressor. The stock belt wrap leaves a lot of travel where no idler or tensioner is present, allowing the belt to walk under high boost. To address this we've added a couple additional pulleys to mitigate this so the belt is always under guides.
