Video stock '05 E55 vs lightly modded '05 M5
Here's a couple of vids from last week's fun here in MI. Met up with BTPower last Saturday and we ran our grocery getters. The weather was perfect, about 64 degrees with sunny skies.
We ran twice against each other. The first race I got him on the light and finished with a win by .38. The second was much closer. We were within a tenth of a second of each other off the light and he edged me out by .07.
The last race was my best 60' at 1.83 on stock PS2's and hence was my best time. BTPower was consistently running high 11.9's to 12.0's. He has some light mods which I'll let him talk about if he wants.
Here's the first video...

The second...

and finally one last vid of BTPower.

It was cool getting a chance to meet up with BTPower. BTPower, you have quite the machine...no problems whatsoever hanging with (and beating) the beast. Hope to see you in the spring on a road course!

BTPower has a very sweet ride but I'm not sure I'd call his modifications light. Dinan TB, SuperSprint Headers, SuperSprint exhaust, ECU tune and suspension upgrades is not what most would consider "light".
Congrats on keeping up with him on the track. It goes to show you that anything can happen at a stoplight. I'm bet that on a open highway things may get ugly fast.

Any further and it definitely would have been ugly. I was able to pull through second, but that was it. BTPower's ride pulls up top like crazy! Still amazing to see what our cars can do stock...

c'mon.. that is a stage 2 or 3 car in any car club circle.
all he need are cams and a different rear end.. and he would have a fully modded M.

Wolverine,
Thanks for the vids and a great time. Your car is a monster right out of the box. No, I would not consider my car "lightly modified" as it has SS headers, SS exhaust, Dinan Throttle Bodies, and a Dinan 3.91 rear end. I currently do not have an "ECU" as my dealer wiped it out a couple weeks ago when they had to do some service work. It certainly says something about E55's when I have to mod my car like this just to keep up.
I do not have any timeslips in front of me but I think my best time of the day was 11.91 @ 119.xx with a 60' time of 1.83.
Again, thanks for the invite and your car is absolutely stunning. I still need to figure out how to launch the beast better though....
BTW, you had asked about road courses next year and boy do I have a treat for you. We have a private rental set up for Mid-Ohio raceway in the Spring. If you are game, let me know and I will fill you in on all of the details so we can hit the twisties....
Thanks again and tell your Dad he needs a new hat.

Wow that thing is a monster!!! Keeping up with an E55, and beating it, in its natual habitat is an amazing feat. Did you get a lot of power out of those TB's? They must have been quite a pretty penny, TEN throttle bodies.

And yes, there are TEN.

BTpower you should get BMC airfilter's, Evosport Pulley, RPI ram air intake, 3.91 diff and cams! i bet that with a good launch -11.5sec is possible.

Good run Is these runs on stock tires?

IMO, it is going to be very, very difficult (if not impossible) to get into the 11.5 range with this car....even with cams, pulleys, CAI's, etc.
N/A + low torque + low displacement + heavy car = tough to mod.

I had the Evosport pulleys a while ago but took them off after having serious heat issues while tracking the car. The RPI ram air intake looks like it would work and is pretty cheap so I may try it. I would LOVE the cams but that is some serious labor expense.

Nice runs, Brian!
I found your 1.83 60' time to be very impressive. You've shaved some serious time off of your run by doing that. The first 60' (really, the first 5,000 rpm) is the M5's achilles' heel, but a 1.83 is excellent.
NOS would shave some more time off, I think.
