newbie needs help

I've owned my US 04 E55 for about a month now and have some general questions that yall may be able to help me out with.

1 - How do I know if the supercharger is working? I don't hear it and am not hearing any "chirp" as experienced by others. Is there any way to test?

2 - In an attempt to get MP3's to play, I effed something up. I went into one of the service menu's by holding 5, 3, 7 for a few seconds. Up pops a model menu and the keyboard menu can be accessed by pressing the top left soft key. Well, I changed something and now the MB logo comes up instead of the AMG logo when turning on the radio. Can anyone check their US version 04 e55 and let me know what the model and keyboard settings are (warning, dont change anything cause if you get the wrong mix, button assignments get all jacked up)?

3 - Does replacing the snorkel with the one from the S class void the warranty?

4 - Has anyone put rain guards/vent shades on their e55? I am interested in doing so but would love to see pics to get a visual of how it would look.

Thanks to all who reply!

No chirp is how it should be (starts to chirp when the belt stretches a bit). Testing (imho) is an easy seat of the pants test, floor the sucker. There's about 490hp with the SC and 350hp without. The SC kicks in @ around 3000 rpm

I know, I once tried and got the AMG logo on start up - it's in a thread here somewhere. Regarding mp3 playing - CD slot 0 - the single one above the head unit will play an mp3 cd, the changer will not. You can (I did) add an ipod adaptor if you wish but it's not very loud - about 30% quieter than a normal cd or the radio.

3 - Does replacing the snorkel with the one from the S class void the warranty?

No, it doesn't, I've done it and there is not much, if any, seat of the pants gain.

4 - Has anyone put rain guards/vent shades on their e55? I am interested in doing so but would love to see pics to get a visual of how it would look.

Got nothing for this ?

Michael

As far as question #1...

The 'chirp' is not the best indicator of whether the blower is working. Often they don't chirp at all, even on pre-2006 cars.

The best indicator is this: when you peg the throttle, at around 2k RPM... you will find that you have to HOLD ON FOR DEAR LIFE as the car bends space and time with a huge surge of torque! No joke, you should feel terrified. Like the car is putting out too much power. Like it'll bend the front of the car. Like it'll rip pavement up in huge chunks, like a powerfull horse on a grassy field.

Traction control will kick in, you'll see the t/c icon flash momentarily, which may ruin your fun for a half second or so.

If you aren't experiencing terrifying levels of power, either your car isn't working right, OR you traded in something really terrifying to get your E55. Odds are the car isn't working right if you even have to ask.

My 2005 ran perfectly for a year or so, but then fell prey to the pump failure. An easy fix (in warranty) and I'm back to the crazy power I'm now getting used to. Pump failure is a common issue. If you aren't shredding the hell out of your rear tires, something is probalby wrong

Have someone stand in your driveway and cruise it down the street. Turn around and punch it.
