What is this part on the driver's side?

What is this part on the driver's side?

It is just in front of the front driver wheel. I think it is a bushing for that can and it looks like it took a dump and is spewing greese?

Jangy,
I think you are right it is a bushing, but what looks like grease is the bushing/grommets melting/decaying. Do you have any leaks above it and inside under the coolant bottle?

No, just the bubble bushing, itself. I know I could take it in, but I'm curious why it is there?
