Anybody get caught racing

I was crusing around the other night and saw a vette and E63 pulled over. This is in the West Valley CA. I presume they were racing. Anybody from this form? Just wondering if it's a big ticket.

I thought it was an automatic arrest in california, and maybe even a felony charge

You're damn lucky. I got caught racing in the highway in West
Palm Beach county, I was arrested and overnight in jail.
12 hour traffic school, 50 hours of community service & $2,500
lawyer fees to stay out of jail, and this was in March 2005, it's
more harsh now if you get caught.

very undesirable consequences - especially over 100 MPH (automatic loss of license). it gets worse if doing it in heavy populated areas (like the infamous E55/SLR "race" which appered to take place in a city/highway setting) of town versus an empty freeway...

i guess it does depend were and who got you pulled over, was on my way home from work at 4a.m. and was in my Intrepid at the time(no benz money then lol) and was on the local freeway. guy in a older camaro v6 was ****in with me, we pretty much raced neck and neck about a mile, and some how, a freakin cop was out that late clockin, pulled me over but the other guy kept rollin.

he let me off just cuz i pulled over and the other guy kept going i guess. said he cant just give me a ticket. gave me a "warning"

I'm in the valley too and a few years back I got caught racing on Topanga Cyn. I got an Exhibition of Speed ticket. It was dropped to a Speeding and I paid around $200; however, the original charge stayed on my record for three years and it was two points so my insurance premiums suffered. There is actually another violation that is worse. It's Engaging in a Speed Contest. That one will result in greater consequences. Either way, it is a misdemeanor and you will be charged like a Reckless Driving.

I know in San Diego county the police will take your car from you and crush it. It has happend to some rice rockets. I am not to sure what the severity of speed or race has to be to qualify as a "crush" but it would suck no matter what!!

Heard in SD they're pretty rough, and will even check your engine bay and springs for mods... that would just **** me off if a cop would argue with me about my mods!

The cops are really strict. Just last week an 18 year old in an Integra(go figure) was racing a mustang on the 94. The 18 year old lost control, hit a tree and split his car in two pieces. He was lying dead in someones front yard.
