Trade CLS and M3 for E55?
Hello
I have been following this forum for the past couple of weeks and I am started to become addicted to luxury and performance combo of the e55. I currently have a 06 CLS 500 and a 01 BMW M3. I like the luxury feel of the CLS but the performance (especially the cornering) of the M3. I am thinking that I want to trade both of these and get a 06 E55. Is that what you guys would recommend? I have a friend who works at the Mercedes dealership here and was told that the CLS55 did not really move off the lot like the e55 and that the dealers think the car styling is a fad which when it came time for resale in a couple of years would be hard. I even thought about getting a new e63 but it seems easier to mod the E55 and the depreciating hit of driving a new amg of the lot is crazy right now. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

dON'T TAKE LIKELY WHAT THE dEALER SAYS OF THE cls55 ITS A PRETTY UNIQUE LOOKING mERCEDES AND IT COSTS MORE THEN THE e55 so as for moving them the price would make it harder. I also like the E55 and feel that your trading in those cars is not a bad idea. I think you would be pretty happy with the E.

Don't expect the E55 to give you the driving involvement you get with the M3...................... Apples and coconuts (E55 vs M3).
A modified E55 is an absolute blast and the monster torque will make your M3 feel like an 100hp econobox by comparison. But!!! It's not the type of car you use for autocross days (most of us anyway).

As far as if you should trade the 500 and M3 in for an AMG? Oh YES!! You will be quite happy at how either E or CLS can be a tame cruiser and a bruiser with no switches or magic codes.
As for the E vs CLS, I say get the one you like. I like the E. Others may like the CLS. Resale value won't be as good on the CLS, since they are more to start with and don't cut the deals that the Es do. So what if your $100K car is worth a few thousand less at the end if you liked it better all along?
If you like mods, the 55 is the ticket.
